*** LIMITATIONS ***
1. No borderless printing
The printer needs a 16.9mm edge at the lower end of the term, so that each photo to print, a very thick white border around the image required.
2. No photo prints in A4 format
When I tried to print on glossy paper in A4 format, I got error messages that the paper does not fit. When I looked at the Canon website to find the reason for this out, I saw that the printer unfortunately makes only photo prints in size 10x15cm (postcard size) or 13x18cm.
*** EMERGING EXTRAS ***
1. Print cartridges
The printer itself is incredibly cheap, but you should also keep the cost of the ink cartridges in mind. Has arrived since my Pixma with me, I have only 13 pages printed, and the printer gives me the message that my black cartridge is already half empty. I had tried out the photo printing performance, so I've used more ink than if I had printed text, but if this information is true, this is quite shocking considering the price of ink cartridges. The cartridges that come with the printer, have standard size, but there are also XL versions that last longer and are more affordable.
According to the Canon website you can with the cartridge print the following number of pages:
* Black:
Standard: 180 document pages
XL: 400 document pages
* Color:
Standard: 180 document pages
XL: 300 document pages
These values are meant for regular text documents. As I have noted, the page number is much lower when printing photos.
The XL cartridges can be found here:
Black: Canon PG545XL ink cartridge for Pixma MG2450, MG2550, black
Colour: Canon CL546XL ink cartridge for Pixma MG2450, MG2550, multicolored
2. Paper
If you are planning photo prints, you should pay close attention to buy paper that is compatible with your printer. The first paper that I've tried, you can scrape off the ink very quickly. Look for something that is compatible with Pixma glossy paper.
3. USB cable
The printer comes with a power cable, but without USB A to B cable. Luckily I had, so I had to wait not only such a cable to my USB hub, which I had not in use, until I was able to use the printer. If you do not have such a cable lying around, this is the type you need: AmazonBasics USB 2.0 Cable A Male to B Male, with illuminated plugs (1.8 meters)
*** USING YOUR PRINTER as a network printer ***
This printer is designed so that it is directly connected via USB to a computer, rather than that it is connected via a network cable to a router in order to be available for all users of a network. Nevertheless however in this way - but you can the printer share from the PC, in which he is inserted, via a network or - if your router has a USB connection and a function that allows the computers on a network direct access use manner. So I set up the printer, but it was a bit complicated.
