What more do you want? 500GB hard drive requires no additional power supply. On my PC the plate with only one USB port is running even on EEE PC 901 it runs with only one USB port.
I was already having to crawl very early suffering for my first external plate always under the table to get them up and running. So I can generally recommend 2.5 "disks.
