Update 19.12.2014: While the Internet radio has been corrected problem in that it works in principle again, but not all stations in Germany that send radio via the Internet can be received.
The DAB reception is very good and compensates for at least the best reception of regional channels.
An update would be the Internet Radio solve a problem, but for a sold device Sony wants it nothing more to know.

In terms of Micro Compact Systems I am now very experienced. In the past I had such systems from Panasonic and last SHARP. These were in the 500 Euro class. Now I was looking for a micro system that can be integrated into a network.
Quite by accident, I discovered this facility and was very skeptical due to the phenomenal low price. The investment cost of the purchase date 250 Euro! Can a plant at the cost anything suck?

Amazon Typically, the plant was very quickly and safely with an extra carton packed sent me. The tension was very great when unpacking and I was thrilled when it comes to the quality and design of the plant.
The boxes are made of wood with removable fabric and also the Chasis of 2-way speakers make a very solid impression. The resort itself is processed surprisingly clean, which also applies to the control keys on the device. Nothing wobbles and each key has a clearly defined pressure point.
The eye-catching volume control is mounted very fine, so that a first turn generated a real wow factor! I have of volume controls turned by much more expensive audio components and moving nowhere near the precision as it does this knob at this Micro system. The speaker cables are included and should also prepare itself for the layman no problems connecting these. Small rubber feet are enclosed to the Laustprechern to glue them to the bottom of the pit. A wire antenna for DAB + and FM for normal are included. Of course, a cable or house antenna can be connected. Who does not want to use later-Fi, the device can also connect via network cable, that was it but also already with the connectors on the back. More connections does not exist and does not need it, because external sources can be connected via a 3.5 mm front jack. Also, the USB port is practical front right on the device. An iPod docking station is also available, which can simply open the unit on the left front. A printed manual is enclosed, which is very rare these days because many manufacturers refer to the Internet to download a manual there. Some shortcoming: The fixed mount power cord to the system should have been longer. Approximately 75 cm is a bit short for a plant when an electrical outlet is not right next to it directly.

First hearing test with a CD. The drawer runs very quiet and well supported from the device. The drive can be heard in the current mode hardly. Again, a sign that the system was not really designed as a low-cost product. Immediately I noticed two buttons on the remote control.
DSGX (a kind of loudness function) and the EQ button. Underlying this is a normal bass and treble control. I recommend BASS and TREBLE to 0 and DSGX OFF adjust. The sound quality of CDs recorded good is immense !!! Very clean, finely resolved treble, middle-present, and agile bass, away from the drone level of many other systems. The recoverable volume is
amazing, so that you have enough available power reserves to provide sound itself a party well.
By the way: also does not change the very good sound quality, when playing MP3 CDs or a USB stick connects, which is also filled with MP3s.

NOTE: I can understand the negative experiences of other Rezendenten in any way with respect to the Internet via Wi-Fi reception !!! Even for hours listening to exotic channels like the Los Angeles
City stations 1.fm Jamz Hip Hop ran without dropouts !!! Moreover, I noticed that many US-channels sound much better than the transmitter from Germany, but this only in passing remarks.
For technical reasons, switching from Internet radio always takes longer than FM or cable channels, since certain data have to be adjusted and buffered. Internet Radio is truly no zapping Radio and for this medium is not made. All the more gratifying that it will operate trouble-free if you configured the technique correct. The origin of the problems that others have obviously, probably lies more on the router. My recommendation: Buy yourself a Fritz box and then you are with the Sony plant.

In HOME NETWORK mode press OPTIONS on the remote control. With the DOWN button in the menu, scroll down to Network Standby appears on the display. Press ENTER to confirm and to ON. Last Test criterion: I've been using a Synology NAS server on which my entire music library is. Of course I want to use this music archive on my Sony plant. Only running the DLNA plugin on the NAS server needs and already appears on the display of the DISC STATION Sony conditioning when you switch on the remote control HOME NETWORK. Now I have an alphabetical access to all my music folders that are on my NAS. You can even search specifically about the ALPHABET SEARCH function, which is quite reasonable at thousands of titles! Conclusion: At first I was very enthusiastic about the system. I would not buy the plant more, which is the bad support of SONY. An update would be the Internet Radio solve a problem, but for a sold device Sony wants it nothing more to know.
The unit is now no longer available on the market and this is a good thing, because there are now better equipment.
