Star Wars - Episode I: The Phantom Menace (The Ultimate Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Dear Amazon customers.
Before I begin my review of this article, I would like to point out that it is always my main goal is to help indecisive buyers as much as possible when choosing. Therefore I renounce generally offer no real help to the other comments.
I hope you like it.

Well, now to the actual criticism.

This article is the complete soundtrack to the first "Star Wars movie" "The Phantom Menace" (In the original The Phantom Menace)

"The Phantom Menace" was released in 1999 and marked the beginning of the so-called "prequel trilogy". Although Lucas is determined only meant well, the films were never really accepted by the fans.
Particularly this part here was literally torn apart because of the sometimes very childish humor and half-baked action by fans and critics.

What you think of the prequel trilogy, should be up to you. I find generally underestimated these films, but there is at least one point in which almost everyone agrees.

And that is the soundtrack! Thank God, George Lucas again doyen John Williams committed for its pre-trilogy.

The music of the new parts is after the old movies in nothing, and exceeds these places even.

There is, however, just to the music of "The Phantom Menace".

There are in addition to numerous unofficial releases two official versions of the music for this part.

The first version contains the so-called "highlights" of the music, but unfortunately leaves many pieces from. Because when John Williams, it is already difficult to find musical highlights, as the whole soundtrack is a single brilliant climax!

I advise those people to easily output the soundtrack, who prefer to enjoy a kind of album the music.
The pieces are not arranged chronologically in that version, and mixed with each other at times.

Nevertheless, results in a very homogeneous impression.

But if you really want to hear every note of occurring in film music should take up this version. Some people complain that it is not true that "every note" which was composed for this strip is on it here.
But that's wrong. One must only understand properly. What is meant is not that each composition has the Williams once wrote for the film's mood. (Because some pieces were now not included in the movie times)

Much more is meant, that every note is heard in the film itself, is included on this CD.

The music is by the way arranged in strict chronological order. One can imagine the whole movie while you listen to the CD can be run before his eyes. It's a really nice experience. Try it a try. It's really fun, listen to music, and once again present all scenes and dialogues in the head.

This is the normal output not possible.

The packaging is different than I suspected, not a simple CD cover, but is made of solid cardboard. One can open the whole similar to like a book.
The whole package has a bluish color touch. (I must admit, but know that it looks a bit strange when Darth Maul is suddenly blue)

Inside contains two CDs. On the first CD, an image of Anakin and Padme is seen. In the second a picture of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Since it is a "Special Edition" of course is also included a booklet. Unfortunately, this is firmly glued to the package, and thus can not be taken out to watch it alone. It would be better if the booklet would be stuck in a kind of tongue in it.

The booklet itself contains mainly beautiful pictures from the movie, but not too much text.

Now to the music.

On the first CD, all songs from the beginning of the film are (even the Fox Fanfare is on board) contain up to Anakin's victory in the pod race.

The second CD starts with the song where Qui-Gon (in the film) with Obi-Wan talks about the fact that he is installing the hyperdrive generator, and they owe everything Anakin.

The CD ends with the music of the victory celebration at the end of the film.

But there is a bonus track. This mixes the theme music of the movie (Duel of the Fates) with different voices and sounds from the movie.
A nice little bonus that would have been not necessarily needed, the overall impression but does no harm.

Contrary to the opinion of some other people I feel the sound quality of the two CDs as well. Loud noise, or even any errors I could not make out on my "Yamaha" player.

Both CDs have almost a total playing time of 2 hours which corresponds basically to the length of the film.

It is a pity that there is still no "Ultimate Edition" of the music of "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith" has been released. Whether that will ever be the case, depending, still written in the stars.

It would be desirable in any case, because the music of John Williams again is a fantastic experience again and again.
Hardly any other composer creates such an atmosphere with his plays. He has earned his countless Oscar nominations.

I hope I could help you with your purchase decision somewhat. If you have further questions about this article, please write in the comment function to me. I'll help you be happy.

Thanks for reading, and may be with you the power!
