I used to help out in a locked hard drive (BSY state syndrome on a Seagate 7200.11). He just had to grind the plastic protections of a cable side as there is little space at the connector on the hard drive. Otherwise, it's perfect, and there was just the driver Windows 7 (64-bit) that was not supplied with the module (Prolific PL2303) but I found it on the internet. In addition to the ground (GND) and RX and TX signals it also delivers 5 V (5.02 V) and 3.3 V (3.45 V) that can serve as well. And it is self-powered through the USB port of the PC. For my Seagate drive, I used an independent SATA power. Recommended.
