Premium Mouse, but not for small hands

After 10 years after my old proven Mouse type Chictec Chic 1300 (slightly larger 5-button mouse model) has unfortunately given up the ghost, had to further work and play much replacements can be found. Since I am not a fan of too little mice also a great emphasis put on sturdiness of the input devices, my decision was made for the Sharkoon Fire Glider - in my case, thanks to the lower price on the Black version. The standard version differs only by the color of paint. The standard is also black, but provided with a flame pattern on the body of the mouse.

You get the Fireglider one is first struck by the packaging. Where the competition often simply used a standard blister pack that does not protect the Mouse, the blister at Sharkoon is in a box concept incorporated the advantages of both (blister pack - visibility of the product; paperboard - protection of the product ) offers. The Mouse is made big enough for larger hands. All buttons are intuitive and easy to reach. They also provide a very good feedback. Similarly, the mouse wheel is not spongy, shaky or similar but also make a very reliable and high-quality impression. Keys and body are made as usual for a Mouse from Kuststoff, the two main keys slightly rubberized and on the left the Mouse is fitted with a rubber profile.

About the transparent key before mouse wheel can be a button, the resolution determine. One color, in which the corresponding LED lights indicates the respective active resolution. The steps are adjusted so that you quickly select the appropriate resolution of the sensor for any purpose. The button next to the mouse wheel has standard terms saved a triple-click. Even the resolution button is accidentally pressed when using the mouse wheel. Here A4Tech or Sharkoon has done some thoughts on the design of the Mouse.

Why A4Tech? A4Tech has mice in the same chassis, but with a slight decrease in sensor (max. 2500dpi takes max. 3600dpi) in their X7 series. Which one of the two developers of the chassis concept is, I can not say. Who is not at very high resolutions arrives or only in Office, etc. works, the use itself can be quite a superior instead of X7 Fireglider because they are priced lower.

Continue with the Sharkoon variant. Both in games and in office use, the sensor works precisely and reliably on all surfaces. The Mouse, with additional weights, which can be inserted into a compartment in the bottom, will be made heavier or lighter depending on your taste. Say, who's the big Mouse as hard enough, you can remove the weights. For my part I use the maximum weight, as I prefer to work with a heavy Mouse.

The Glidepads on the bottom are also like the mouse in black. They consist of a large pad and four small. The package contents are 2 sets in for renewing the pads, so 2x large and 8x small. In addition, a carrying bag and a software CD is included.

For processing is left to say: Even if the Mouse is made in China, they do not stink of plastic and plasticisers. It is therefore ready built.

The software CD (mini-CD) contains again the instructions of the Mouse and also the software with which the mouse can be flashed. The software allows any mouse button to reassign (except the resolution button). Both with Key and Mouse with key functions. Even it is possible to execute program calls with a mouse-button press. For usage of the special functions, no special driver is necessary because the mouse itself simulates the functions and is fully functional with its USB Mouse driver.

On balance, I can say that Fireglider is an excellent mouse, which is worth every penny of its price more than worth it. However, I can say possibly a warning for people with small hands or people prefer the little mice. Here the Fireglider is probably the wrong choice.
