Speaking of living room: A decisive factor for a good sound experience is the creation of space. In one with thick carpets, cabinets, sofas, full shelves and plush furnishings constricted space is also narrowed considerably in its extension in space of the sound. Everyone knows the: A Renovation purposes completely empty vacated room sounds completely different from a 'stuffed' room. A perceived or thumping bass-heavy sound is not necessarily the fault of the speaker system, but may be paid to the design of the room. Without wanting to offend someone one should just know and remember with.
But - like many things in life - it is also a matter of taste whether a sound like it or not. Surely a setting the tone as well as a volume indicator would be desirable, but is due to the outstanding sound properties not essential. The space-saving slimness, elegance, simplicity of the system and the quality of the acoustics and the talk with only minimal cable connections for themselves. If you want more, must compare apples (= complete hi-fi or surround sound systems) not with pears (= Sound bars with or without subwoofer) and will also need to take more Euros in hand usually.
From me there is a clear 5-star recommendation for the Bose Solo TV Sound System.
Now even an update of me (26.08.2013) and Bose: The functionality of the solo is still impeccable. In the reviews we read here and there not enough, but also about too much bass. That's just subjective matter of opinion. For the Group 'too much bass "Bose has helped along with an update. Under worldwide.bose.com/downloads/de/web/bose_solo_tv_sound_system_overview/page.html's the new update and detailed instructions in German. Then the deep tones can raise if necessary and reset again.
I hope my hints have helped in the decision.
