Product Policy: joke with start - unit: has potential

More I do not expect this by now. However, the SELPHY brings not even with a sample pack, which I think in view of the price of equipment and consumables easy for a real joke with startup. Via the printer market and its sales tactics so generally some - but unfortunately rather nothing good to be said. But something has been happening to me in any other printer. For this feat, I would like to smooth awarded zero points. After this threshold was so overcome by purchasing matching accessories (which cost me less than a week, for the DERS hurry so has the Tip: Please also order the same consumable) I could devote myself to operating the appliance.

The design is as easy as with the other devices known to me: paper in the holder, ribbon into the device and you're ready to print. Not expected I that the Selphy SD card of my "Non-Canon" cameras eats without hesitation - but he does. My Sanyo printer is also not much better in this discipline and accepted alone an SD card from my Fuji), the Kodak printer has been equal to no SD slot. But as I said: the Selphy seem to be as open. From my Samsung, my Fuji and my HP he swallows all the cards and shows good their content to (he can also print). So a big plus at this point.

Less luck I had when installing the Selphy as a network printer. The supplied CD turned out for my purposes as completely useless, since I was able to install neither drivers nor the accompanying image processing program under XP and / or Windows 7. For some reason the software to connect the printer requires persistent with computer via USB cable. Up to select the connection method (and the ticking with "wireless connection" as described in the manual) I was not in any event - both XP and Windows 7 refused to install.

On my XP machine is also that of the Canon site specially downloaded driver did not install. XP interrupted due to a non-existent security certificate installation process also here easily. Perhaps because one knows a trick I have simply given up. Download the appropriate driver for Windows 7 brought at least the desired result: drivers let installierien to Windows 7 recognized the Selphy and had no safety concerns. so I can now at least from a computer wirelessly print Bildchen ...

Equipment hand can be the Selphy with few, integrated in the manual handles well represented in the net.

Absolutely problem is also designed to work with my Canon PowerShot SX 280 HS. The recognized the Selphy immediately and prints with him now directly from the memory chip in the camera merrily nice pictures. This is by far the übereugendste aspect of the WiFi functionality for me.

With the print quality I am absolutely zurieden. Color and sharpness going fine for me.

Conclusion 1: Photo printer still remain the most expensive option of printing photos. But for a quick snapshot in between and to give example grandparents fast times a lasting memory of the raging grandson on the way, they still remain the most attractive solution.

Conclusion 2: The unit has its pitfalls (software) works in the basic functions, but properly.

Conclusion 3: The product policy of Canon Selphy the example I find still a bit strange. Although the here mentioned by other reviewers in the discussion reasons (accessory for mobile use extremely expensive, etc.) take for me personally not the same status (especially since I do not want to run mobile device), I can this criticism quite understand. Whether it is or not in the package: extradite a printer in Consumables-free state I find it extremely schofelig.
