I see the WD customer service reads messages so I go with my remarks. This is a very good product, very surprising, silent, seems changing. By buying my own, I had to do an update of software as also between the arrival in store and my purchase there two days, there has apparently been a lot of updates. He reads a lot of formats, including MKV files that some say they can not read and also all my photos. Unlike my TV that does not read much, the latter not even being able to read all my holiday pictures !! The housing can connect with an ethernet cable or wifi. I also tried to pass 1080p video with the housing connected to my wifi box and the PC connected to my ethernet box and it works very well also, although the wifi connection is a priori slower than ethernet connection . There are USB ports (1 front and 1 rear) to connect directly discs containing photos, videos, and music. This also works with a server on a Linux PC by installing the package minidlna (ubuntu 14.04). The possibility to set the subtitles is really convenient (position, size, color). Some critics now: the interface is a bit slow, the remote control is somewhat obscure to use (how do you use the remote control keypad for example, I have not understood?), N the android app is not easy to use: you have a finger in the center square to go up or down the cursor, so when we just want to click, it just touches the screen, but unfortunately often the android application interprets it as a slip. In short not easy to use. The menu icons are not necessarily very enlightening either. The difficulty of use is also due, it is true, to the wealth of possibilities of the device, and also because I have the housing that since 2 days. But I still think that the interface could be improved. EDIT: and also for a future release, USB-3.0 ports instead of 2.0 would be a good idea.
