So I've manually polished tools made of stainless steel and chrome vanadium steel.
Lubricated I have with Esso Oil Universal (sewing machine oil, the rest very recommendable product) and Brasso Metal Polish.
The abrasive is almost not to get broken and enormously productive. Even after 10 minutes (with little pressure), the grinding effect is still present, albeit with finer grain, which I came to meet in order to achieve the final gloss. This I did not need to grab 3000 to achieve a high-gloss surface.
The grinding performance is top notch.
The carrier (paper) is also very durable and dissolves not fast as the inexpensive varieties.
