Quick AF - Belle optical quality - but it's heavy!

I wanted my D7000 quickly build an effective tool for macro, being quite spent Sony Nikon last Christmas and having had the opportunity to "tater macro" happily with excellent (issime) Sigma 70 f /2.8 EX DG Macro on a Sony 12 megapixel case.
I chose the 105 f / 2.8 micro-Nikkor whose reputation is well established, for its VR stabilization and superior focal length in order to stay further from the photographed subjects, attracted by its design IF (Internal Focus ), which guarantees that no longer the objective occurs when the development, allowing a constant working distance and avoids "hide the light" through the lens, which in my opinion is the only default one can blame the Sigma, the lens is very close to the subject in 1: 1 ratio.

On these points I have not been disappointed, constant height and setback provided by the focal being very large benefits to preserve this beautiful natural light (which is my favorite lighting), and often lacking in macro. In terms of quality, we also note a bokeh (background blur of) absolutely gorgeous and a tune very fast ... the point when the AF does not declare package, which happens a little too often for my taste, the D7000 But being rather well endowed in this area.
The soft and the progressiveness of the focus ring, and general finish are commendable, although the construction seems less good as the 70-200 f / 2.8 brand that I have the privilege also possess. Perhaps this is due to the production "made in China" my copy because it seems to me that its release this objective was made in Japan.

The surprise is VERY good, despite what Nikon wrote on its website and in the record of this goal, the x1,7 converter is fully functional, including at the AF! Accordingly therefore we find ourselves in possession, with the acquisition of the teleconverter I already had for 70-200, 2 Macro lenses: a 105 f / 2.8 and a 180 f / 4.5 AF-quality macro entirely satisfactory. It is not life grand?

Among the small disappointments, which justified the only 4 star, a level very very good dive but do not really differentiates from 70 Sigma macro (admittedly excellent), a VR stabilization is quite bruitante (hissing in setting in action) and is not as effective as one might dream it. It is true that from Sony where ALL the lenses are automatically stabilized by the sensor, without any noise and with lighter objectives since it does not incorporate the stabilizer, I took bad habits, but we must recognize very demanding with the sensor 16 megapixel D7000, moved in the slightest micro macro not forgive and I struggle to the end to do better than the pictures made with the couple Sony / Sigma ... not for lack of Nikon dive but due to vibration pickups, even on foot!

A show of hands, the significant weight of this beautiful object is also somewhat disabling in the long run but it is the price of a great opening for a fairly long focal length, motorized and stabilized ... and supports full frame (FX) for the day ...
