Decision criteria were the clear, fast readability and the timeless simple design of this model. I am therefore moved away also from diverse Chronos. Additional elements on the dial actually impair the readability always the "normal" time. I have found in me that I in everyday life also almost never use Stopwatch & Co - so get rid of it.
The clock makes a high impression, much better than on the product photo on Amazon. Tip: For photos googling for SNZG15K1
Only the original nylon band this clock was me then too little elegant. I have since replaced it by a robust dark brown leather strap of Birkenstock.
22 mm watch strap BIRKENSTOCK 682 Sport, Arizona calf, matt, brown
This evaluates the clock in the overall impression again on a good deal.
The original tape is functional but not bad! It is very comfortable and is also water in the "unbreakable" - swimming, showering and water sports are with the clock absolutely no problem.
A small problem with this model is that the date and day of the week but not so clearly stand out (gray on black) are really easy to read, and only at a higher light. (Tip: there are three similar SNZG * Models with white date field)
I am impressed by the luminous material on hands and dial. I've never seen in any other clock so clear and yet so long (hours) phosphorescent material (Seiko Patent LumiBrite). When the particularly scratch resistant Hardlex verspochene -glass (also Seiko patent) would play along at the same level, the really great.
An automatic I have chosen this time because of my elegant gliding second hand this technique for some time very like. That's something other than the hard "switch off" the seconds of a quartz watch
My clock is approximately 7 seconds per day. The time they veliert Only daytime while supported. Overnight filed with dial up I have so far found no deviation.
Seiko indicates a deviation between -15 to +25 s / day for the Caliber 7S36. That's just a sturdy workhorse with the Gangenauigkeit was not the supreme design principle.
Both in the reviews here as well as in various watch forums is this caliber - which is built for many years in practically all Seiko 5 to about 300 - described with practical values of often less than 5 seconds deviation per day. Where running ahead here all watches slightly, that I have a lags not yet been viewed.
Type. achieved the caliber thus an accuracy that are otherwise in automatic watches will cost the well 10 times. Therefore, the factory specification smooth understatement and the price-performance ratio of this Seiko 5 is remarkable.
At a deviation, although I have had a bit of bad luck with my copy, it is still well within the tolerance specified by Seiko. If that bothers me in the long run, I'll even introduced to a watchmaker for Balancing with a time scales. The Schäubchen to be recognized under the glass floor.
But: In a mechanical clock is all under 10s Deviation per day "good"
Which brings us to the fundamental attitude toward mechanical watches:
Who wants to have it exactly, or must, for a quartz clock or no alternative. Each cheap quartz alarm clock for a few euros will always be more accurate than a function for more than 100 (and also 1000) Euro
For me, such accuracy can but only on a digital display read & use a classic watch face is then also misplaced.
And in real life comes's actually never to the minute on, the second anyway.
This Seiko 5 can and has everything you need in everyday life. All the pleasure of "viewing time" and have something looking for everyday, will go wrong with this model nothing.
