Duke Nukem was necessarily the foot between two eras: it drags with it the baggage of a fps old-school and unrestrained as his weapon pack outlier and wacky enemies and at the same time he adopts a more linear structure, a bar of life that goes back alone and forced to wear only two weapons. All this will not please everyone and I am not even me necessarily convinced by the change in the weapons and the life bar. However, if much regret the labyrinthine levels duke Nukem 3D, I have to admit I never liked spent 2 hours in a level to look for the blue card stashed in a corner of the level (players 3D or Doom understand me ) and that in my opinion duke Nukem Forever has made the right choice. The level structure footprint lot to the half-life license. The environments are limited, but we have not provided the impression of walking in a hallway as is the case with Call of Duty. There are also some puzzles that take advantage of the physics engine, and which are reminiscent of Half-Life 2.
The game however is unbalanced since all game footage is not the same, but I had fun both during the most nags that during those passages where one enjoys a scan the environment to seek all interactions possible in this crazy world. A world which is also the highest quality of the game. An hour or fps sometimes lacking in charm, it's nice to see a game that has its own identity. Duke, macho hero with punch-lines delirious evolves in a spoof of blockbuster: a world that is completely dedicated to him since he seems possessed half the city of Las Vegas.
Forever is perhaps not very beautiful and some parts may be a little soft but as a whole the game is fun, funny and above all different. Adjectives that I did not have the habit of using to talk about video games.
