Elizabeth is single (bein yes, obviously!) And has been suspended from a job she loves. So the day of his 30 years, she organizes a day around the only thing that brings him even a little fun: the dog shows. But with the arrival straight from England this arrogant judge but devilishly sexy, Donovan Darcy, nothing will happen as planned ...
You understood, the book which is fully transposed into the world of dog shows is still very special. Personally I love dogs but not really small, much less groomed. Still, it is well led and humor of the author works well in this context. The protagonists are touching with their dogs also without being ridiculous. However, I still is that a dark man walking a small dog and spending his Sundays judging others, then I have more bad anyway.
Fortunately, she Teri Wilson, has no doubt about the sex appeal of his character and we repeat so often that it is perfect that one is forced to end up believing. All the secondary characters are fun or detestable but wish I struggle to understand why most modern transpositions of Pride and Prejudice Elizabeth want to do a little young confident woman, which easily covers ridicule. A Bridget Jones what! And this is frankly disappointing although heroin is very endearing.
In terms of storytelling, I enjoyed the alternating points of view. Since it is not a question of suspense is not it (what? You do not know that Elizabeth and Darcy end up together ????), I liked Darcy know the thoughts also. Unfortunately, even the story elements that different from the original and could bring a little extra is not very surprising, but the ball scene overtaking a little lack of originality I think.
To summarize, I would say that I really enjoyed this nice and light reading. Although I read best modern retellings, I think for a first selection of austenerie Harlequin is doing very well and I think it would be a shame not to add it to your collection!
