The Divided into 3 large areas gameworld offers a lot to discover. Around 100 cities, 30 animal species, rivers, forests, mountains and of course lots of prairie spread out on the really huge map. The atmosphere in New Austin (USA ähnlichher part) and in Nuevo Paraiso (Mexico) is great implemented.
The 60 main missions, 19 side missions and the numerous appearing periodically events offer some variety. Clear repeated with 20+ hours of play over and over again something but manageable. John Marston, the main protagonist, has its rough edges and also fits nicely into the game world. The story is interesting and ends up (at least for me) unexpected.
By the way you can pass the time by going out hunting, one of 6 mini-games (poker, horseshoes, arm wrestling, Dice Poker, Blackjack) plays or the challenges in the areas of master hunter, treasure hunters, sniper and survivalists trying to solve. Even duels are not missing, just as 'peaceful' missions, such as rounding up a herd of cows or breaking in horses.
In other OpenWorld Playing the rather long transport routes nervous often. For RDR I had this feeling better than ever, because it is fun to ride with his horse with the Wild West. In addition, can be visited at any time by fast travel a different place.
Graphics + Sound
===========
The graphics are mostly very good for a game of this size OpenWorld. Although sometimes muddy textures or other graphical glitches can be seen, for sure the game with a magnificent vision, great weather effects (with matching background sound), and partly great animations (especially the horses are made class). Overall, Präsentaion besides gameplay makes a significant contribution, the result is a compelling real acting Western atmosphere.
Multiplayer
========
The multiplayer I first ignored, since I have the usual PvP modes expected. As me but a friend has pointed out that there is a free mode in which the entire single-player map is (privately or publicly) available, I've tried this and I must say that it has a lot of fun together excavate with friends gang hideouts or about to deny hunting grounds. PvP I'd prefer another title, but the free mode invites repeatedly, pay a visit to the world of RDR.
Conclusion
====
One of the best PS3 games, with only a few minor quirks that are absolutely justifiable in relation to size of the game.
