The T200 hybrid PC running Windows 8.1 32-bit, has a touch screen 10 points of 11.6 ", offering the possibility to be detached from the keyboard. It has in the belly 2GB of RAM, 1 TB (931 GB usable ) SD, 1 port Ethernet, 2 USB ports, 1 HDMI, 1 Micro USB port, 1 MicroSD slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, and 2 cameras: a 2 Mp, and Another 5 MP ... Anyway good characteristics for surfing, word processing, play honorably, at home and outside.
The reception was a bit worrying because the TNT delivery (according to my colleagues in the parcel receipt of work) would have thrown the parcel at the entrance and would be gone at full speed without requiring a signature. Fortunately the Amazon packaging presented no sign of significant shocks, and that the PC was in its constructor packaging.
Got home I unpacked the unit. Quick start with the classic configuration phase for Windows 8. Log flawless Wi-Fi. Retrieving settings from my old laptop (in Win 8) via my Outlook profile without problems.
I notice two things:
- A tiny scratch half a centimeter approx. bottom left of the screen, discreet enough for riding on the black border and the display area. I do not see dead pixels.
- On the DD a folder containing personal photos, certainly the previous owner of this ephemeral friendly PC. Housekeeping was not completely done before the return ...
Well, it has confirmed that it's refurbished, with little surprises that may arise ... In nothing too bad either.
After phase "grip and discoveries", I installed an anti-virus and full scan ... You never know ... No problems.
So there I just spend the day with, and that's not bad at all ... It is very well! Windows 8.1 comes into its own with the use of the touch screen. Accustomed excellent Nokia 920 with Windows Phone, I quickly took my marks, and it is a treat.
-> Well all is not perfect either on the T200, perfection does exist even if we can approach:
- The screen has a glossy screen, so not great for use outdoors in the sun,
- The outer parts of two elements, keyboard and screen of a textured black plastic pretty nice and reassuring to the touch, but the inner part of beige plastic keyboard is a bit fake, especially when using the central keys, or the sound of keys becomes more noisy,
- 2 USB ports (1 in 2.0, and the other in 3.0) it's just a can, although it is still better than the Asus T100 which has only 1 I think,
- A micro HDMI port ... Why not a real HDMI port? Besides Asus does not provide an adapter,
- The location of the buttons (Windows button + volume + button on / standby / off) on the outer edge portion of the screen, not the best location when it was in hand, forcing an adjustment phase to avoid inadvertently return home with tile or turn standby.
- A laptop a little heavy, with approx. 1, 60 kg, the keyboard part is certainly weighted to prevent the weight of the touch screen makes the overall switch "Book" open when it is clipped on the keyboard.
- Asus did not provide any information about the system backup, and certainly not a CD with the Windows license is "dem-s *** you" to the user ... Must go digging on the Asus site for dig the manual in PDF format, find drivers for download, and scraping a little we discover the existence of an application named "backtrack" which allows to make a backup of the system on a USB drive with at least 15GB, if need of restoration.
- Unlike the T100, you will not find in the Microsoft Office suite of T200 package. For me it was not a problem as I turned to Office 2013 from my old blunderbuss, and installed smoothly on the T200.
-> Otherwise, the highlights are:
- The hybrid aspect I spend PC "book" Touch Pad with great ease,
- Windows 8.1 that runs very well, and which perfectly manages the tactile aspects / Laptop "Book" with keyboard.
- The silence in every situation. It's good! The pleasure of passive ventilation! No releases heat, and no thighs that heat when you have laid them over the laptop keyboard to type.
- The hinge for the screen clip works well, all seems solid enough to me ... We'll see in time ...
- The screen of 11.6 "(16: 9 HD resolution IPS 1366 x 768) is very nice, the resolution is good, even for watching HD movies, and the viewing angle is wide enough.
- The HDD is accessible and apparently easily replaceable (eg if you plan to put SSD ...) via a screw hatch under the keyboard.
- The battery life is quite good, and it recharges in about 1 hour when the PC is in full stop.
- The 2 Altec Lansing defend themselves properly, even if it's not great sound on this type of configuration, a pair of headphones is preferred connect to watch a movie or music ...
- A start and an output ensures super fast: count start around 10 to 15 seconds to reach the login page, and around 2-3 seconds from sleep.
Ultimately a first very positive results for this nice ASUS Transformer Book T200TA, in addition to an attractive price at which we find the T100 10 "and 32GB SD only. A very nice hybrid PC for everyday use. I think quaprès tasting in this configuration, it is hard to go back.
