Receiver of the superclass

To receive the current or future satellite programs in HD, I was looking for a good PVR receivers, the stable and reliable is serving. First I tried it with the much cheaper Blaupunkt S1, which disappointed me in stability and reliability.
The VU + Duo2 is a top device that runs on Linux-based, with or without an internal hard drive, and usually with 2 tuners (See 1 program while recording another) is acquirable. For the recording of broadcasts is a priori a built-in internal hard disk advisable.

The VU + Duo2 has 2 displays, the center displays the sender and technical symbols. The slightly lower standby is called Deep-standby (consumes less power, the startup takes longer) and is indicated by a white LED just to the right of the front center. Initially, the tuner must (or 1 Tuner with only one antenna connector) configured and the channel list is loaded, which is relatively straightforward (available in the Quick Start Guide described).
In (menu button) Settings menu Basic settings are configurable, in the Extensions other settings are available, or (if the VU + is connected to the Internet) additional plug-ins can be downloaded. Some are already pre-installed in the Extensions menu, more useful plugins must be retrieved from the Internet, the way it works very well on the control buttons on the remote.

If you want to cut records must know the MovieCut and CutlistEditor cooperate although there are two plug-ins. By CutlistEditor all crop marks are set, then you go out of the editor, video editing (cutting) is performed by MovieCut. If you understand that, the tailor shop is very easy. One can also choose whether MovieCut in the original recording should remain separate unchanged or not.

Unlike Windows drives are not created with a drive letter in the Linux system, but are mounted in paths. Here you should be very careful and focused approach, so you do not accidentally delete important functional paths, most only work with Copy Delete (shots should anyway in shooting menu). Copying is excruciatingly slow in FAT32, while the image is still all over the period covered (can not be pushed away) and 4GB file size is Sense. So you can not work. But you can initialize it with the Device Manager (under Settings> System) to stick with ext2 format. Copying then goes much faster. Unfortunately Windows can not do anything without additional driver with ext2. For this drawback I draw from a star, and the fact that NTFS on removable media is read-only and can not be described.
The flashing with latest Images 1.6 (download via VU + support) via USB key is functioning properly. It is worth knowing that go west all settings, configurations, installed PlugIn and the even higher-level station list during the update process. Only the recorded programs are retained on the internal HDD. The PlugIn must be reinstalled again, will need an internet connection is required, of course. This is very inconvenient. If there is no Internet connection, it would be good, for example, if PlugIn (which are used in most cases and had installed) to be copied to a USB flash drive and can also be installed from this.
Would like to briefly praise the remote control at the end, with which you can control via adjustable device code on the TV in the basic functions (on / off, volume, external source / AV). The AV button proves to be disadvantageous, two keys for this function (up / down) would be better, the need to shift through all AV inputs when maybe switch back and forth only between two inputs, is annoying.
If the VU + Duo2 is ultimately established and according to their own will, the operation of the device is really fun. With a little patience and inquiring mind, though sometimes I was on the verge of beginning to tap the part in the bin, you come early or later the goal. For the VU + Duo2 there is hardly something that can not be adjusted. Currently I know of no better receiver.
