Early in the book, the author explains in detail the basic recipe of the cake, allowing us to then create our own recipes by adding the ingredients you want. Book to have with you to achieve quick savory cakes as an appetizer for a meal with a salad. However I am less a fan of his sweet cakes that require a lot of butter, which makes them for my taste, too fat and too heavy during the tasting.
