After many read reviews and YT video via so-called Car-cams, I decided due to the compactness and image quality for the Liquid Image EGO to after an accident in city traffic without witnesses (morning city rush hour - there were enough motorists in sight, but unfortunately thought it not necessary to hold - poor Germany to be) better prepared.
I find the operation via the Mini DisplayPort with the two adjustment knobs not very complicated, as I maintain always the same attitude and thus must only start the camera (left button) and then the recording itself (right button). The normal HD quality already provides super filming. This way you can still at 60 km / h license plates of oncoming traffic recognize the equally fast is yes - but only if you continue to click in the recording still images.
All in all fine suitable for my purposes, and the adhesive pad holds bombproof on the dashboard. The camera has a very high "anti-shake" effect.
Now the negatives: The factory default setting stops recording after 30 minutes. For longer trips it is extremely impractical and you can not fiddle around on the camera to start a new recording while driving. The setting can indeed be on "loop recording" change, but only via a smartphone or tablet with the corresponding app. Unfortunately, I have not yet Smartphone Tablet - I'll have to wait on me in the circle. After the Konfigurierungsapp is free. The makers would have at the price from 170.00 to 180.00 Ocken canceled anything, if they had to be accompanied by a software mini CD.
The second point of criticism has also to do with the length of time the battery life. After 90 min Recording I still had a battery line. It can therefore be assumed that a maximum recording time of over 2 hours. I now thought, that's not bad, I'll buy a car 12V USB adapter and charging when required during recording in car. Far from it either refers to the camera, or loads it via USB - both are not the same there. Once you get infected, the cable, the cam switches off. As I drive now rarely longer than 2 hours at a time, which is just about acceptable. However, if you consider a return trip, one has to see where you can load the battery in the meantime, he also draws current in the car only when ignition.
Then of course you have to delete the record itself, an infinite loop does not exist (have a 16GB Micro SD in it, that's enough for about 180 minutes of recording).
Holding the Camera benefit I want you indeed more than Action Cam (bike, ski, soapbox ...) is designed and less than Car-Cam. Yet it delivers here with the restrictions mentioned good to very good usable results. Who can live with it, not go wrong with the Liquid EGO.
(Configure no way the feature is configurable without smartphone and the fact either load or record) Both drawbacks I subtract a star.
Yet in the end: sound quality is great and the 135 degree angle detected centrally from the dashboard really a very large viewing area to the right and left, without distorting or act fischäugig too. At night on country roads lean image quality (supposed to be clear to everyone), at night in city traffic at streetlights still really good and clear shots.
