Xoro HRK 7560 Digital HD cable receiver (HDTV, DVB-C, HDMI, SCART, PVR-Ready, USB 2.0) (Electronics)

Customer Review

Xoro HRK 7560 - cheaper HD-compatible PVR cable receiver. Unfortunately provides only the bare necessities.

Who only basic functionality is required, and would like to take no pay TV, is very well served, image quality both SD and HD I would as a 'good' call.
The remote control makes a very sophisticated look, is easy, not 'overloaded' with buttons, works well and fits comfortably in your hand. The key assignment I would describe as quite successful (although not optimal, however). There is also a button to jump between 2 shipments - at first I was quite overlooked because of the somewhat misleading symbol (Note: it is the button on the bottom right next to the D-Pad)

However, those who want to make use of, for example to record programs the device, should be better look elsewhere, the device acts here unfortunately completely immature (as in early July 2014).
(Why it has received many reviews with 5 stars, I can not quite explain - the recording functionality is finally a very practical / important matter in a TV receiver.)

Furnishing / sending list:
First scan was done fairly quickly, and most stations ('m KabelBW) were found. (Not all I had, rest means 'Manual Search' Add .. Note: do not use 'Advanced search')
(At first I could some stations (receive only a certain transponder) only dropouts / pops, but that was on the antenna cable (by exchange here alls ok))

The order of the channels (in the station list) can be changed. Note: The station list is always recreated during the search ('Auto Scan' and 'Advanced search'). If you want to change the station list like, should be careful.
Unfortunately, an export of the channel list (eg on a USB stick), and modify this eg on the PC is not possible, an example will always remain if the cable TV provider again makes changes, not save a laborious reorder ..

PVR (recording programs):
While recording itself works, but in terms of use and features, etc., you realize this but a marked difference to 'better' devices - for example (!):
While a recording is in progress, no recordings can be played.
While a recording is in progress, no other stations can be added (to the same transponder).
While a recording is in progress, although can at least be switched to other stations, but unfortunately the device does not jump directly to the next or previous 'available' stations (through the broadcast of the same transponder to 'zap' is possibly very uncomfortable).
(2 channels on different transponders can of course not be displayed / recorded because no twin tuner is installed.)

The biggest shortcoming: long shots (more than 2 hours SD or about 1 hour HD), the unit can currently not play to the end - it ended prematurely eg playback. But I assume that the manufacturer soon creates here via firmware update Remedy.
(Addendum: possibly corrected with firmware update v1.4)

(I really like that can be recordings on the PC at least View (with appropriate software) also, for example. (The photographs are in MTS format.) My external hard drive (2.5 inches without power supply, NTFS, 1TB) smoothly recognized and accepted for recording.)

The list / display the recorded program was unfortunately very poorly resolved. Can locate a particular recording (especially if already exist a number of shots) therefore be very laborious.
Completely impractical.
Example? "RTL_Television-07222014-2232-After" (not very meaningful or?)
The filename begins with the station name, followed by the date in the form of 'MonatTagJahr-minute hour' !, followed by the program title.
Most program titles so after a few letters cut (total. Only about 30-35 characters are displayed), and the date in this form (as well as the station name) are there mostly unhelpful ..

(Agent-pad can 'navigate' through the list of recordings, this top a little more is nevertheless indicated by program title (on top of the screen is more space for the text available ..), place enough often still not to the program title not to Read, for example, and the length of the recording is also not apparent (but only during playback))

In addition, the finding is complicated by an incomprehensible for me ordering of images. (It is not alphabetical nor chronological order, at least not always.)
When up / down-coil does not appear (at least in fullscreen), for example, where I within the receptacle (/ remaining time) me.
The remaining recording capacity is not at all apparent.
Comfortable 'jumping' is not possible - for example, some devices allow per-pad / button is pressed to about überpringen 20sec - takes uA commercial breaks the horror).

(Renaming the shooting is possible (via directional pad and On screen 'keyboard'), but is laborious / time consuming.)

Media Player:
Unfortunately, graphic 'progress bar' (postition shipment. The file or remaining time) there is not.
The most popular formats like avi, divx, mkv, mp4, mpg, vob, mov, ts (audio: mp3, AAC) are (at least partly.) Support. Max resolution 1920x1080 / 30P. (Eg wmv and flv apparently not supported. For more information regarding. Supported codecs / versions see instructions, download available from Xoro)
Spacious / easy navigation within large media files is not possible (forward / rewind (maximum 32x), as well. 'Jump instead hh: mm: ss' is sufficient as simply not).
I mean here the device lacks a bit of 'computing power', but at the great price of course you can not expect a high-end hardware.

EPG (Electronic Progam Guide):
Rather uncommon here only the program of the currently selected station is displayed.
I find this approach quite ok, but is a matter of taste.
The 'programming' of broadcasts by key click on the respective EPG entry works quite well - if rather unintuitive for me (via OK button must then be confirmed even in the resulting dialog box, here is adjusting the start / end time possible - but you moved start or end time, unfortunately, the recording mark is no longer displayed in the EPG - can cause confusion.
If you want to check in the EPG several successive programs for the recording, the designed quite cumbersome by changing the dialogues).

Other:
The screen size / aspect ratio can be adjusted by means of button on the FB. I prefer to '16: 9 pillarbox '- in this case be, for example, 4: 3 broadcasts without' (left / right with the edge) displayed image distortion '. (Note: Does not work in the 'Media Player' - here is only a temporary change in the 'TV mode' necessary ..)

Changing the volume: unfortunately 'sluggish' (press button for about 10 seconds, or keep for 'significant' change in volume ..)
(Addendum: has now been revealed through Firmware Update v1.3 Fixed)

The USB port is on the front page, if you want to record to a USB flash drive, you should prefer a stick without LED get (the 'Geblinke' is not for everyone ..)

Setting options: are little present. But at least the display brightness, and, for example, is the 'auto standby time' (for which to change the device in standby mode) adjustable. However, auto-standby functions unfortunately only on TV, for example, Recorded plays the instrument, however, mercilessly (until the last file) when 'asleep', the device is therefore only conditionally.
For image viewer can display time, transition effect (0-59) and aspect ratio 'retain / discard' choose.

Puts the developer a little more time in the device software, the device could grow significantly more attractive. I think the most I mentioned 'shortcomings' could be without all too much effort eliminate / improve, and there is still hope - the device firmware can be updated via USB stick.
The information I refer to the version 1.1, booth early July 2014th
'Unfortunately, I can not keep track of how the unit (resp. Firmware) evolved because I prefer given away from the mentioned reasons.

A device with no frills, but at least the fairly reliable (no crashes so far, etc.) works. To watch TV (no record etc.) ok.
