As I sat down after delivery at 12/06/2013 intensively with the settings of the device apart, I succeeded at least a significant mitigating Rotstichs by "Red Gain" to the value of 14 (instead of default 25). Over Christmas I had time to look for more than an hour. But that was then no more joy. I had never as in this device after a maximum of 2 hours, feeling very strained eyes. As my wife complained of a headache at all, I tried to continue to track and analyze the cause of the matter.
Result: In close-ups and high-contrast images of the blur effect was not observed. In dark, reddish image areas with low contrasts the effect is clearly to light. Faces appear extremely soft, unless they fill at least one third of the image height. The argument of the Samsung technician that could be a result of the depth of the recording, without any foundation, if a jacket and tie are mapped knackscharf in the same image plane as opposed to the facial features. To make films is not fun - facial expressions only in close-up!
After Christmas, I then at 28.12. and 2.1. try to activate the Samsung Service via Internet. No response, not even an email confirmation for receipt of request.
On 6.1. I then let the hold go through me and then I penetrated after about 30 minutes. The following day I received a call from the technician, the evening came back to lock onto the TV. I went through the essential settings with him and was only the recommendation to try it with some other "Motion Plus" settings. The mistake he could not understand, not even the red cast to reset to the default setting. As I unfortunately only a little later, it became clear that was not surprising - its display should surely working properly and if my settings in this to take effect, is also questionable.
Until the latter part of the Odyssey is for a further telephone contact on 13.1. triggered repair order. The technician was able to trace the reddish, but played the blur impression than normal tolerance down, although it is in my opinion clearly perceptible even with HD recording on site. Well - he was sitting is not 2 hours before, to realize how strenuous this latent uncertainty in the long term. After all, he was a fact that he would order a screen "preventively". At the moment he had only one panel to another version - what that means always. Why did he not simply exchanging the device including Connect Box, me remains a mystery. Anyway, I wait until today (25.1.) On a replacement device, with which I can watch TV even half as good as with my unfortunately gave away Philips 52PFL5605H for comparatively ridiculous 1,000 euros.
Bottom line: if not the entire series is crap, so I have at least caught a miserable outliers. Thus, Samsung can only wonder if the remaining Star is available for the device or service.
PS: The purchase at the local dealer has not proved to be advantageous. The right of return in the long-distance trade, however, allows the test under normal conditions (rather than illuminated in neon stores) and relocated or even replace the dealer. So next time Amazon or comparable source for examination "goods for the German market," because of the extended warranty.
Addendum:
I have after long experiments but still found a way to improve the overall impression of sharpness considerably. It should be ensured that obviously for video and still image (Photo) can be different settings low. For me it was just the way that the optimum sharpness for photos (height 1080 pixels) via HDMI at a value 1-3 was established. That I had for video signals of different resolution (576, 720, 1080) is not checked. Oddly enough, it turned out that a value of 15 for all video signals was equally good. What remained was the blurred impression in image areas with high red content, which is probably due to the fault of the panel.
Samsung has finally withdrawn the TV, since no panel was available as a spare part. The dealer has given me another TV and refunded the difference. Thus, the long saga is now over. I live for the time being not too bad with a Philips 55PFL7008K, even though I now have to accept significant compromises regarding blacks. With the generous customer solution of refund even without bond to cover the replacement Samsung has now saved his support asterisk and by a really very good and sharp image with error-free devices is probably to be expected. Thus, my vote varies from one to four stars. For five star to me the long wait and the lack of concrete setting aids was too annoying.
I'll wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation of UHD TVs and hope to devices that then make 3D such as the Philips with polarization for eyeglass wearers comfortable, with good viewing angle (as is the Philips by far better) to enjoy also from the dining table and ultimately even able to convince with good black levels. Currently, I find it all together in any device - a pity.
