The optical performance of the glass are somewhat mixed. Disappointing: At no twilight and night time one really has the impression of looking through a glass with 56 mm aperture, the transmission is poor and the image appears dark. Technically goes there nowadays much more. The huge 7mm exit pupil is of course wonderful, shadows are virtually non-existent and the insight thus extremely comfortable. For many who physiognomy-related difficulties while looking through binoculars, an important advantage. Who does not like (with binoculars usually intended) distortion, here is also good, which is namely relatively low.
The field of view is not exactly abundant with 114/1000, the subjective / apparent field of view is because even well below 60 °. Not for wide angle lovers.
The focus is for me absolutely fine for a glass of this price range, at the edge it will then naturally less, but that's already a very good level. Chromatic aberration (color fringing) I personally find the other hand, a bit much. When being used as Nachtlas (but not as astronomy glass) is one of them certainly do not remember. Since the chromatic aberration rather beat down in a slight loss of sharpness. When Innenschwärzung the tubes you could have done more in my opinion, that is not exactly brilliant. Too bad, because the contrast would again a piece can be improved. The focus is wonderfully precise and supple, exactly to my taste.
Sure, for the price the glass is perfectly fine and I want to anyone in the fun at the "large glass" at a low price spoil. Suits me completely away, I look even well liked by and have it therefore also keep! I have to name only difficulties for a particularly useful application for the other glasses would not be more appropriate.
For astronomical observations the chromatic aberration can be distracting and the light intensity is too weak. Hunters will get though to see in the hide hardly the fringing ever, but again remains the luminous intensity among the options, for a 8x42 with very good transmission makes just as much - I really tried and compared long with a good Japan-Nikon 8x40. For use during the day, the large lens aperture is not useful and only a ball and chain (or rather in the hand). A birdwatcher would resort to a good 10x42 with good correction of chromatic aberrations.
