The brush Tri-Zone, rectangular appearance as a manual brush, seems a bit more effective than the round brush head Precision Clean, especially the gaps between the teeth; but it takes up more space in the mouth, and its operation is therefore a little less convenient. I suggest you try both before you decide.
This poses no problem, whatever the Oral-B brush pattern you choose. Contrary to what is suggested by the presentation of the manufacturer, the two main ranges, Professional Care (blue) and Tri-Zone (green) either accept the brushes from each other. In particular, the brushes Tri-Zone, the most recent, working perfectly on brushes Professional Care. (Only Sonic type of brushes are reserved for ultra-sonic technology devices.)
In fact, the two lines are identical model by model (eg the Professional Care 1000 is identical to the Tri-Zone 1000), except for the color and (or) brushes with which they are delivered.
That's why I chose the Professional Care 1000, delivered with a Precision Clean brush as all this variety, which I supplemented with a set of 3 brushes Tri-Zone.
This model is the best compromise between functionality and price. This is the least expensive with the most recent and most powerful engine.
Choose a more expensive model will bring several different brushing paces (I doubt this is very useful), and various gadgets such as storage racks for brushes, or more different brushes supplied instead of one.
The unit is well in hand, is not bulky and has a very useful dock for the rest brush head in the air when it is placed horizontally next to the sink.
The switch is not very easy to find by touch when the brush is in the mouth. Personally, I find it too short timer, but just wait until the end of the short interruption of the engine to continue brushing. Noise is that of an electric razor.
The excessive pressure sensor, which puts the system in half-engine and lights a light, seem very useful to me, you really like a brute support so that it fires.
Charging is done by installing the brush on the base, provided with a plastic pin. In order to ensure perfect sealing and safety, there is no electrical contact between the two parts. I suppose that the energy is transmitted by induction.
In return, charging is very long: 22 hours, depending on the manufacturer, which corresponds roughly to my findings. A recharge after a single brushing (longer than 2 minutes preset in my case) already takes several hours!
It will therefore allow the permanence brush on the base. The strategy to use the unit until completely discharge and then recharge it from scratch, seems impractical, unless consent to a day brushing by hand. This is unfortunate because the batteries live longer when practicing well. This is why the manufacturer recommends practicing a full discharge at least every 6 months. The battery is specific and apparently can not be replaced.
The consumption of the charger is negligible. Announced at 0.9 W, I measured an even lower level: 0.6 W load and 0.2W no load! If you pay, like me, to 0.1329 kWh VAT, your charger plugged permanently will cost you, after a year, a sum greater than 23 cents but well below 70 cents, the latter figure corresponding to that you would pay if your brush undertook 24 hours 24.
Care should be taken to clean the brush and the machine after use. Disassembly is easy and both parties spend underwater. Plan a small plastic box to dry the brush aside between uses is the disadvantage of this model does not have to store it peak.
After a few days of use, this product seems to me remarkably effective, clever, cleverly designed down to the smallest details, and as far as I can judge, well manufactured. The warranty is extended to 3 years if you register your product on the manufacturer's website.
Often than buying private label, in this case I would advise against buying brushes compatible say (let alone infringement): the mechanism is too sensitive, and quality manufacturing to risk too primordial to, in my opinion.
My quality manual toothbrushes (Gum 407) cost me 3 in Pharmacy (2 in rare promos). The price I found on Amazon put the brush head Precision Clean to 3.26, and Tri-Zone 4.06. Obviously, it's expensive, but the extra cost seems acceptable in view of the increased efficiency (and prices dentists!).
Update September 13, 2014: I found in a large chain of Japanese stores, an ideal gadget for storing vertically Oral-B brush and leave to dry: it's a simple porcelain ring two centimeters high . Made to replace glass where you put the toothbrush, it will save you paying extra for an extravagant one of the top models of Oral-B brush with a carrier.
