- Product:
The floor cleaner is on delivery of four parts: Cleaner (split into two parts), sealing ring and hose. It consists of a yellow semi-transparent hard plastic, has inside a permanently installed large-mesh sieve and the upper end of a rotary switch, which stops the water flow. The hose has a length of 1.80 m and diameter of the current corresponds to the size that fits on pumps, etc..
- Assembly:
The structure designed to be foolproof: Laying sealing ring between the two main components, plug together and fix it with about a quarter turn. Place a hose on the dedicated headset jack and you're done.
- Application:
The application of the GC40 floor cleaner is purely by hand. There is no connection to a filter or similar necessary.
The cleaner is immersed in the water. With some upward and downward movements fills the cleaner with water and pushes it in the direction of the hose. It is important to make sure that the lever for the water flow is adjusted so that even water can flow through.
Reaches the water level in the cleaner the highest point of the hose, the water runs through the resulting natural fall off automatically in the space provided vessel. However, one should choose a vessel which is not too small, because the water flow is enormous. A 60 gallon tank can be emptied in about 2 minutes.
The suction power is, however, excellent. Sludge is easily removed. The suction power is just so strong that the ground though whirled, but is not sucked.
The integrated strainer prevents about one aspiration of fish. As it is, however, fairly coarse mesh is not ruled out that young nor small fish are sucked.
The GC40 is shaped so that one can work also in the corners. If you have the work completed, turning the lever for the water flow and draws the floor cleaner from the aquarium. It may happen that coarse dirt that is stuck in the sieve back reduces the aquarium, which, however, due to the typically small amount poses no problem.
- Assessment:
The Tetra GC40 floor cleaner is doing what it should: rid the aquarium bottom of sludge. The handling is very simple. The quality of materials is equivalent to what you would expect for the price.
The problem, however, two points: First, the amount of water that flows out of the aquarium during cleaning. This is technically so conditionally. I personally have, however, estimated to be lower. So it is fair to say that at a reasonably thorough cleaning a water change will take place when you have to top up at the end of the lost water.
Second problem is that at the end of the hose, which is in the collection vessel no fixation on container exists. With clumsy movements can so the hose slip from the container and the water ergiest down on the floor. In the mentioned water flow which is not exactly little. Whoever reacts late can look for a pool cleaner for his living room floor the same times. A small bracket, with which one could attach the tube to about a bucket would therefore be beneficial.
- Conclusion:
The Bodenreinger fulfilled its task with simple handling. The price is reasonable for quality and performance. Well suitable due to the high Wasserdruchflusses more for larger aquariums. An attitude for the hose supplied would be desirable. Overall rating: Recommended and therefore 4 stars.
