First attempt: after installing an ASUS Xonar sound card and the connection through the riser, the computer would not boot; Several attempts brought no success, as soon as the riser was removed from the PCI Express slot, everything went OK. The ASUS sound card I have returned because I thought it was broken.
Second attempt with nearly disastrous consequences for my computer: New sound card installed (Marian Seraph D4) reconnected via riser, this time the riser cable began slowly in the middle to melt, has been severed at the point and the sound card was almost on smoke. A short circuit in the riser cable obvious; I as soon as I was able to shut down the power supply, PC was then as "removed" means that the sound card could be directly, ie reingesteckt vertically, and behold, after that everything went perfectly.
The riser cable is MMN. too vulnerable and fragile, I will therefore look around for a more solid alternative.
Supplement: The tough dialogue with the seller brought a few more aspects to light. For example, in spite of satisfied customers, it has yet been isolated to Nichtkompatibiltät with some motherboards and so on. Of course, these were not documented by the delivery or disclosed to me was "recommended", I would have to check in advance the compatibility with the help of the seller ... we still talk of an extension cord!
And yes, my best thanks to Amazon for obliging guarantee restitution, the seller I have reviewed elsewhere.
I can not recommend unfortunately.
