I read this novel at its output in 1977, and I had been very impressed. I did not read recently, but I read a lot of novels "bit-list": Stephenie Meyer, Charlaine Harris, vampires diairies, and honestly, there there is no picture: Stephen vampires King are rough around the edges, no simpering, "skin shining in the sun" love forever and gnagnagna, these are REAL good nasty monsters, although grimey and pollitiquement incorrect. They bite everything they catch and are really nasty. It's really pure terror in the style "night of the living dead" of Romero. I saw, for cons, a film adaptation of the 80s, a real nanar alas, who had cut me want to read the book, is to say ... how can we betray an author at this point -There? I believe a TV adaptation was made quite recently, I have not seen it yet, I hope it is better. It is an excellent novel that deserves a good adaptation to the screen, otherwise it quickly falls into the ridiculous and grotesque déjà vu.
