That was my first reaction when I unpacked the monitor, I have appointed the day before the Lightning Deal. It was not a deliberate purchase, I have not looked at the product properly, read only what of Multi Desktop and just 29 "widescreen. Men and technical constraints imposed by ...
Well. Since the package was already so before me. Return is now also stupid. I'll also rarely. But this broad display
? Really?
Opened package, unpacked Monitor. Hmmm .... What's the 2.te DVI connector ?? Multi Desktop ??
Well, I had read the product description times previously. 1x DVI-D, HDMI 2, 1x DisplayPort.
That's about the first major shortcoming. The connections are not really well thought out in my eyes. At least not for a PC monitor. If anything, for multimedia or surveillance monitor.
My graphics card has 2 DVI-D ports and one mini-HDMI. All ports support the resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels and even more. The monitor is but at no DVI-D cable. Normal DVI cables may not support the required resolution but - just the screen flickers. The included HDMI cable but no mini-DVI port as it is present on most PC's. Port therefore not readily possible.
Fortunately, a DVI-D was found in my stash yet to HDMI adapter. So then we went first.
Another drawback: The height adjustment.
From height adjustment since no question may be. The base is screwed into one of 2 possible positions. Point. So I had not imagined it.
I was still skeptical whether I should actually keep the monitor. But we give him a chance.
Multi Desktop / multi-screen function:
Again, I am not really convinced. Yes, the picture is from 2 different input sources can display,
BUT: because the images have to share the monitor suddenly, I have either distorted desktop views or I'll have to adjust the supplied software resolution and refresh rate automatically. But then disappear in a full desktop folder out of sight.
In my view, this feature is only useful if someone wants to get permanent display the same desktop / PC or video sources. The same applies to the Split Screen function, which divides the screen in up to 4 areas. With drag & drop that works simply not intuitive and reliable enough. Subtracting a window in the section provided and click to full screen, the assigned area is not exploited but the entire monitor. Annoying and time-consuming.
All in all, the no real multi-screen solution. Working with multiple (physical) monitors will be better supported by Windows and is easy to use intuitive. This helps the workflow.
Ideally suited to the monitor, however, for example for the connection of security cameras or fixed built-on work screen, for example, when video editing etc. When using Lightroom I recognize, however, except the size of no advantage, which is partly due to the widescreen format. 21: 9 is just not made for image editing.
Whether I have returned the monitor?
NO! For this he makes too much fun!
I had hardly compare a 23 "monitor with a TN display. The LG with its IPS display is in the picture quality and superior in every respect with regard to the image quality. Moreover it acts thanks to its slim design much more elegant on my desk and in games or import HD movies he is simply convincing!
Also, the more space on my regular Windows desktop me very congenial. One gets accustomed to much too quickly to the extra space.
CONCLUSION:
Who wants to set this monitor should be (unlike me) think twice before for what he wants to use the monitor. Fashion Genuine multi-screen will not work if the contents are constantly changing. But he who works with a fixed layout may save you a second monitor.
For Multimedia (Games, DVD, etc), the monitor is terrific, but you should always keep in mind that 21: 9 just not a standard format is!
Also check in advance whether you really the right connectors and cable has! (It is possible, for example, if you used any DVI HD playback DHCP protected content to HDMI adapter ...). I say only because Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, Maxdome and Co ....
All other lots of fun!
