From this envelope I expect something similar ...
Like the S3, the envelope even improves the operation, at least for one-handed operation, because, due to the slight ridge to the touch screen, with the heel of your hand is not as fast triggers keystrokes when the thumb must go up the leftmost ,
If I have to sit in between times short the phone, then I have got used to place it on the display side.
(Advantage: one saves the gripping, the mobile phone is immediately stored and immediately right again in your hand.)
Without cover: risk scratching the display itself on a level surface, picked up due to the narrow, smooth edge almost impossible.
With shell: The display is protected by the web, the silicone on the sides felt (and not only suggested) fluted, and thus a very good grip.
Thought at first, the envelope would be thinner than the S3, but both are about 1.5 mm thick, both weigh 23 grams.
The recesses of the shell are made exactly that indicated in silicone buttons for "I / O", "Low" and "High" was a point of criticism in the S3 hull, here they are much better prepared and much better felt than with the old shell ,
For a large high / low volume rocker while S5 is now available 2 "silicone keys" what the feel much improved.
Something bothers me: Since the camera lens of the S5 is clearly (much more than the S3) also protects the 1.5mm thick shell, the lens is not safe from scratching, especially since the cutout for the camera in the S5 shell is also much larger.
This criticism, however, is essentially addressed to Samsung, although one could make a bit thicker the shell around the camera aperture to gain more confidence and distance to the lens to move a little further inwards.
However, the manufacturer of the S5 shell have also recognized by the camera, there are a small bead personally but to low and narrow fails me.
For this reason I have put in the envelope inside the camera opening a few tape what the camera still moves half a millimeter inwards. The camera is one of the highlights for me and an important reason to buy the S5 (see test in CHIP). Would be annoying if scratched.
(The problem I had with the S2: no shell and in the corners totally scratched camera lens -> Photos still reasonably OK, but backlit subjects completely unusable by the scattered light after one year)
Because: If I'm using a shell, I want the phone is not in addition to pack in cotton wool, and it often happens that the mobile phone finds himself in a pocket with keys / coins ... what the S3 (with comparable shell) also 1.5 years has remained without consequences.
Ever Since the S2 I know that you (also, and most other) should not use Samsung's phones without shell. If S and S II plus the paint has flaked off very quickly on the sides, which looks very ugly. With the newer (and bigger) models of the touch ranges also without casing as far to the edge, the incorrect operation with one-handed operation on the agenda, and put the camera lenses are used regularly as a "support leg", only "protected" when S5 an approximately 0.1mm high Alu Stage. Robust is something else.
Since my phone outdoor often times "idles" I regularly use replacement batteries. The case is easy and fast to change. Habs times stopped:
Down in about 6-10 seconds (you have to watch that you do not the battery covers with runtereisst), up in 3-4 seconds.
When S3 I have the envelope determined to 100x / subtracted, she was nevertheless always precisely and dimensionally stable.
Conclusion: Very good, very cheap envelope, which in no way restricts the operation, but has rather improved and made their "sister" at S3 very good services.
For my opinion, insufficient protection of the camera, I subtract any points. It is likely to chalk Samsung that they want to build the flattest possible cell phone, but then let the camera stand out more than one millimeter.
