1. Sound: Here the Wavemaster is clearly ahead, as there is absolutely no doubt. He sounds much fuller than the Raikko, has more bass and volume. The Raikko sounds rather flat and has only at higher tones slight advantage.
Verdict: The Wavemaster is the unique point winners here.
2. Volume: At max. set volume on the mobile phone is the Wavemaster noticeably louder, as well as the separate volume control on Raikko useless. If this is set to maximum, the unit still does not reach the Wavemaster, in which the volume can not be adjusted by the way on the device itself. While there is an on / off switch with two volume settings, but hardly differ in intensity. A living room sound for both devices but without problems, outdoors the good sound quickly loses with 2-3 meters distance.
Verdict: The Wavemaster is clearly winning point, the maximum volume is higher.
3. Processing: The Raikko affects quality and is better managed by the design. The build quality is really perfect, unfortunately missing with my two small rubber feet at the very bottom of equipment. Here at home, the bond had dissolved. When Wavemaster against the membrane protection is more effective through the metal grille, the extension mechanism sometimes hooked something.
Verdict: The Raikko wins, he just looks a bit clever.
4. Handling: This is comparable in both devices, the Raikko extends upwards, the Wavemaster down. Both have the same, 3,5mm jack cable to short bottom of the appliance, therefore no difference in length. The Raikko scores here with its supplied separately charging cable that also branches to 3.5mm and therefore serves as an extension. The charge / power light is not visible when Raikko on the side, so visible in Wavemaster on the ground and thus in operation. The volume can be adjusted on the unit when Raikko. From this adjustment I had expected better, but it is something indirectly by the pressure on the feet and you are constantly searching for the right key, as three feet are occupied with one function. On / Off, loud and soft.
Judgment: a small advantage of the Nano
5. Equipment: The Raikko comes in a small cardboard box containing the unit, a transport bag, a manual and a USB charging / extension cable. The Wave Master comes in a transparent plastic box that the device indeed well protected, but is too large to constantly carry him in. A USB charging cable and a manual is included, nothing more.
While here wins the Raikko due to the bag and the extension cord. However, considering the low financial outlay for a handy 1.5m extension cable + adapter, then the advantage already superfluous again, especially as the Wavemaster thus still priced below the Raikko.
Verdict: advantage to Nano, which is, however, easy and inexpensive to compensate.
6. Radio receiving: Here the Wavemaster compared loses significantly. Even with an extension cable it roars only and there is no usable reception that I have tested with different sources. When Raikko contrast already reaches the built, short jack cable and instantly fills the channel list. So if you value on radio reception, for separates the Wavemaster immediately.
Verdict: The Nano is an absolute winner on points.
7. Duration of batteries: The Wavemaster I have now been at least 6 hours at 75% of max.. Run volume can load without new and it still does not weakens, the same applies to the Raikko.
Verdict: Since I have not received both devices empty, all I can conclusively say anything yet. According to the Technical Reference. Data should last longer but the Raikko.
Conclusion:
Who does not wish to radio reception, which should decide on the Wavemaster. It simply sounds better, louder and can be better with a few Euros to equip than the Raikko (eg with a 'proper' extension cord).
The Nano is not a wrong decision, but living more of his interesting look and the higher perceived quality, sonically more for audio books. In music the Wavemaster is simply better.
