Installation:
Very easy. Connect the equipment, load software for Asus, Set Up, Go.
The software provides all standard settings; that the stereo upmix (stereo music on all 7 boxes spread) here now "Dolby Home Theatre v4" is, is getting used to, but nothing critical.
Unfortunately - and this is for me the killer argument: Sometimes disk accesses generate a crackling and buzzing in the boxing. That was with my onboard sound card never like this. It may be due to my PC power supply and not at the Xonar, since USB and SATA are fed by the same power circuit ... but why it is also, I do not get away and feel the noise as so disturbing that I on the more detailed sound compared with the onboard soundcard love to renounce.
Conclusion:
Well currently only reasonable 7.1 USB sound card on the market. Sound considerably more detailed than the onboard sound card, but unfortunately with noise in output via USB.
