Series variant of the "Breakfast Club"?

Initially premised: I love the movie "The Breakfast Club" and think he is up to date and understandable even today. However, Table 58 - even though many elements (and characters / stereotypes) were taken from the Breakfast Club - my opinion is not the stuff of cult series (comparable to the cult status of the film).

Here also has an unusual and ragtag group of students (nerd, athlete, criminals / Tough, etc.), the "forced" are (wg. The chopping and seating arrangements in the school canteen) get along. Unfortunately, the characters (Mama, and children of 8-10 m / w, all of English fluently powerful) remained at least in the opinion of all the audience involved in the house too flat and not "adorable" enough. They were oversubscribed, while little memorable. Too bad, because the idea itself is good, but it is just shown us to greatly exaggerated and none of the characters could really convince us. If you disconnect from the comedic aspect of the series with a new production, the basic framework would be a good reason to continue watching the series. The comedic aspect but rather less. Since I will probably still prefer to show my children the "original"! Pity!
