Also by default, share videos, photos, music are defined and accessed by DLNA, super convenient to see on TV.
Of these shares, restore points are activated (every hour or every day), allowing to go back due to operator error.
The interface is very simple, even simplistic. When we used to fine tune its hardware, we think it's a bit limited.
By cons, it is very suitable for beginners. The French translation is good, although, out of habit, I prefer the interface in English.
In terms of functionality, you can add a bunch of apps (software download, photo album, Wordpress, PHP, MySQL, PrestaShop, OSCommerce, ...).
In short, enough to make a small web server home, all for free (contrary to what another reviewer).
The housing is compact, discreet enough and it does not heat.
In a living room (conversation, the sound of the TV), he does not hear. By cons, do not think placing it in your room.
While the 92mm fan is not spinning fast (about 800 rpm), it makes a slight noise some fairly sharp unbearable in the long (not including the sound of discs).
It can be replaced easily; Moreover, I would do when the warranty is over.
Some information about benefit from this NAS:
- To avoid problems, take a drive in the compatibility list. To find it, made a research: Hardware Compatibility List Readynas Hard Disks
- The moving files from one share to another amounts to a copy in terms of time. While a move in the same division is instantaneous. It may be more efficient to share a directory in which subdirectories are recovering to classify its files, rather than relying on different shares.
- Backup point functionality created copies of files for each change, move. In addition to taking up space, it takes extra time. Do the Backup points on files that are worthwhile.
Ultimately, this is a good little NAS, practical, multi-use, good quality / price ratio and having a supporting community (English and French) that helps move the NAS and not to being alone in case of problems.
I take it one star because:
- It could be a little less noisy (although other NAS are much noisier)
- The simplicity of the interface is sometimes confusing. So, sometimes you have to look a little clicking anywhere just to hope to find some more options, which sometimes do not exist.
- The blue LED on the NAS: the interpretation of their behavior is not obvious, and ultimately, they appear rather unnecessary
