The operating principle of the mask is pretty easy. Man has the right and left 2 valves for inhalation with adjustable resistors, and in the middle of a valve for exhalation (not adjustable). The mask is slightly curved forward, similar to a dog muzzle, thus you have between the resistors and nose / mouth a small gap.
Who now thinks a little logic, know that thus the O2 and CO2 content, may well change, because in the space accumulates mostly the air that you breathe out yourself. After the input resistors are adjustable, and the output resistance is not, shifts the O2: CO2 ratio increasing, the higher you choose the resistors. It is akin to breathing in a paper bag for the treatment of hyperventilation.
On the subject of Velcro: Some people claim the closure does not hold good. For delivery on Velcro a piece of cloth on the hook side is attached, this has to be removed! I have also noticed after 2 times wear.
