A "clipper-camera" among many - one judges as quickly.
Looking at the photos on the PC, however, I thought more than once "Dat jibbet yes janit" as the Cologne says ...
And as it should be noted that I have tried quite a few models in the field of compact cameras in recent years and tested.
Including so-called. "Edel-Compact" as the Panasonic LX 5, Nikon P 300 and the Olympus XZ. 1
The S8200 provides in all conditions from an image quality that I would like for a compact camera without hesitation to be absolutely above-average on.
And not just in daylight at noon and blue sky but also with less light and indoor photos.
She does exactly what I expect from such a camera: Beautiful print ready photos.
And for that Nikon has matched the S8200 perfectly. Subsequent imaging Needless almost completely.
There are even photos in which I would prefer that my Lumix LX S8200 5 - and that's saying something.
Had I so does not expect.
Nikon has the new sensor generation, despite the (unnecessary) 16 MP just super grip - that I have seen in a number of competitors in the recent past been quite different. The thesis "A lot of megapixels = inevitable lousy picture quality" because I want to but a little perspective.
Which does not change the fact that a S8200 with 12 instead of 16MP would perhaps even better ...
The lens (or the internal correction of the selfsame) is equally clear one of the better in this camera segment.
Scharf up in the corners, even at a wide angle, and absolutely uncritical distortion. Not - Better is at 25-350 mm focal length and 200.
One must however be aware that the S8200 not a toy for "Setting fetishists" is.
Anyone who thinks that everything to itself better than the programmers at Nikon is not happy with the camera. But these are the parameters to which you have access, chosen in practice and the scene modes are exellent.
Especially here highlight the program for Night Scene / Night landscape that very decent results delivers.
Also nice that you can limit the ISO in automatic to 400 - well thought along, Nikon!
Overall, a great camera for stress-free - quite a bit more challenging - Photography with really good picture quality.
Better photos from a "pockets" camera are me hardly succeeded in recent years - and I know very well with speed and aperture deal.
Overall rating:
That for which it is intended, makes the S8200 simply perfect.
If you want more gimmick and even better image quality, which takes place to the current program of Nikon ample alternatives (eg P 7100 or P 310)
Finally, a comparison with the Canon SX230HS - I was able to test extensively in recent vacation:
The Canon has manual settings of shutter speed and aperture. Due to the equally small sensor as the Nikon actually benefited in practice should not be overrated, however. The better picture quality in my experience clearly the Nikon S8200.
Warmer - sharper - beautiful.
The video mode is, however, made better with the Canon, the S8200 performs when zooming in the high focal lengths the autofocus noticeably slower after and tends to "pump" that they momentarily lose the sharpness.
Who but the video eh little zooms and primarily makes the photos I'd recommend a direct comparison undoubtedly the Nikon S8200.
