For my "mini travel cutlery" (Panasonic Lumix DMC-G3) I now have the MB 24 AF-1 added myself. He absolutely not disappointed, is neatly built, amazingly thick and powerful enough. It fits perfectly to the G3 and also in accordance with the small camera bag.
As Metz is very stingy with the product images, I have set a photo gallery showing the much maligned details.
+ The always happy faulted battery compartment is not so bad - although the lid wobbles when it is open, but does not dissolve. When closed, everything is perfectly (see photos).
+ The foot or better its locking is used to - the usual nut would have probably made the device unnecessarily larger. How long does this, one must wait.
+ The tilt reflector is fairly smooth, but snapped a reliable, wobbles (collapsed) and should not frequent panning survive.
+ The AF assist Flash working on the G3 not - that is the mother of the camera alone very well.
+ All programs work perfectly together with the flash, the controller is without blemish.
+ Positive to mention are also the (only) two batteries - as rich the usual four also "including reserve".
+ Panel is "very clear" - but what more do you want, if the camera can do everything?
- A bag is not here - I have a jewelrypouch from my wife worried ...
- Updates to go in the factory service - to get over with the price but then you change if necessary the flash of the camera ...
= No comparison with cheap products, price / performance ratio is absolutely right!
At this point, maybe a few general comments, as well as reviews in a lot of nonsense is disseminated.
The guide number of a flash always used to referring to the normal (fixed) reflector and 100 ISO. Since the advent of zoom reflectors manufacturers (also Metz: -o) often name guide number at telephoto position - then the numbers really nice fall from great ... When you reread, one realizes that, for example, the 58 AF-1 (. see picture) with 35mm (the angle of the MB 24 AF-1) also only a guide number of 35 has - that's just a good aperture more (or about 1/3 distance)!
And on the subject vignetting: Of course, the (all flash) available ... we must not forget that at the usual short intervals, the light path in the corners (relatively) much longer than to the center. As is well known, the decrease in the square for the removal takes place ... and most Wide-Angle Lenses also vignetting ... so please do not complain too much, but if necessary, revise the post.
Addendum of 20 November 2013: The flash also works great on the new Lumix DMC-GX7! That's how it should be!
