To install:
Who throws a quick look at the Quick Start Guide or Getting Started Guide, should have no problems installing the system. Connect the speakers using the supplied cables to the control panel, and last but not least everything to the power grid - finished.
The radio installation is complete after a short time and within a few minutes also sounds very first sound. But more on that later.
After a few minutes, the system automatically shut off - and all stored radio stations were all gone. The search began again.
Unfortunately, the system crashed again from after completion of search and no longer start. A reset, and other measures did not help. The device again and again crashed.
Philips Support:
I immediately sat down with Philips support (via the Internet through [...]) in connection. There I had briefly specify to repair a justification for submission. Then a few more printouts and then the system was already back to Philips.
Online you could track the progress of processing. It took until a Erstatzteil delivered relatively long (2 weeks), but from then on, everything went very quickly - and after just 2 1/2 weeks I got back the unit. The motherboard had a defect and has been replaced. Was charged nothing for the repair (of course).
The new installation was this time really smoothly and with less than three weeks late, I finally was able to test the product through its paces.
Sound:
Because the system is very small overall I was looking forward to the sound experience.
Immediately I realized that bigger is not always better is. My old hi-fi system was about twice the size, but the sound of this little Philips plant is old in every way. From very powerful and deep bass, up to very clear highs. Just as the plant can be a purely visual change (by the div. Covers) can also adjust the tone. There are five modes, these are:
Warm, Bright, Powerfull, Clear and Balanced.
Apart from these sound modes There is no possibility of the sound to be customized -. For example, to set the bass deeper and at the same time to change the Treble, but me personally meet the pre-installed sound settings completely. (A Night Mode possibly would have been desirable -> less bass, etc.)
Bluetooth:
Before buying I thought pity no AirPlay ... Especially since the last radio control another Philips plant (AW5000) does not necessarily always proceeded smoothly. But here Philips has really improved. Disconnections thing of the past. Simply activate Bluetooth on the smartphone - I personalize it tested with an iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 - activate the selbige the HiFi System, done. The first connection takes a few seconds, but once there Connected're off! The sound quality of music playback is just as clear as the via CD or radio. The range of the Bluetooth reception is sufficient. But it is a few rooms away disconnects - here AirPlay would have been preferable, since the connection is created on the home WLAN and would not stop. But you will find yourself back in the vicinity of the system, the connection is made again.
PS, the playback via Bluetooth worked perfectly well on my Mac - assuming the computer is located in the vicinity of the system. (In my case the computer in the room next door.)
Radio:
The installation is very simple. Simply the FM antenna connection, and you can start the search (of course only at the first start necessary). The stations are then stored sequentially. Unfortunately, the radio heard at frequency 99.0 to look, as the 20 storage places were full. Here I would have liked more space - so I had to manually add and delete other radio stations for radio frequency from 99.0. However, many similar systems do not even have 20 memory locations (as well as my old hi-fi system). Saving the radio station was immediately evident, one look at the Quick Guide all becomes clear ;-) DC on the third day was the power briefly interrupted (storm) and I was afraid the installed radio stations are all gone - this was fortunately not the case!
The reception quality of the radio station is great, no noise and Co - which in the country is not really a matter of course with us. Here was yet something to fight our old facility.
CD / USB playback:
Everything went smoothly and the system also recognized home-burned CDs (whether -R / RW and MP3 CD) with no problems.
Playback via USB with titles from iTunes and even loaded titles works just as easily.
Conclusion:
The only negative:
To read display in bright sunlight barely -
- Sound settings can only be changed by preinstalled modes (Bright, powerfull, ...)
Positives:
+ Supplied remote handy (batteries included)
+ Interrupting the power supply does not lead to forget the install. Radio stations
+ Easy to activating Eco Mode (just stay for 3 seconds on the standby button)
+ Div. Fabric covers are very high
+ Self-explanatory / very easy (even alternating between the playback options (CD / Radio / Bluetooth ...) very easily)
+ Powerful bass, crystal clear highs
Overall, this is at the Philips BTM5000 to a very solid and high-quality hi-fi system on which you have many years of enjoyment.
The design opportunity I do not want to miss.
