Commissioning was straightforward. The small wireless USB plug into a free USB port on your PC insert (pad should be switched on), applying wait for the automatic installation of the driver - ready.
The processing of the pad itself is high. The on / off switch can be something to be desired. He's got very small and the position you have to remember, because the LED light for operation lights up briefly. Obviously valuable energy to be saved during operation. Unfortunately, this is not helpful, because the pad expires after some time of non-use in a standby mode. To wake up a few times must be stirred properly on the pad or done, pressing the mouse emulation keys either. It is otherwise very quickly to the idea of a faulty pads.
The attitude to the standby can not be changed.
Both USB connector and the supplied stylus pen can be stored in the pad. One should not be surprised at first removing the pin. He looks really cheap and jumps due to its lightweight practically out of hand. Something would have been more beautiful. The function is thus fortunately not affected. The pen is pressure sensitive (several steps) and already leads to a reaction when easily hovered just above the pad. On pin is a push button that can emulate the right mouse button.
Private:
The listed below operating systems (except Linux) a complete mouse emulation is always given incl. Right-click.
Windows 8 / 8.1 (32 or 64 bit)
In Windows 8 / 8.1 a 1/2/3 or even 4-finger gestures available. An controls thus are possible: Open Charms menu, switch apps, open app bar, close app, scrolling, zooming, Next / Back in browsers, Show Desktop, start Windows, switch between applications.
Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit)
Windows 7 detects available by pin input. The possibilities are as opposed to Windows 8 / 8.1 of course very limited, since such input option was not originally designed with Windows 7. What is, however, in addition to a mouse emulation works perfectly close application, scrolling, zooming (in applications that support the: eg Firefox browser), Next / Back in browsers, desktop display and call up the start menu.
Linux (32 or 64 bit) - Stand November 2013
With Ubuntu 04.12 LTS, or SuSE 12.1 stirs the standard absolutely nothing. It is also immaterial whether the kernel with modules for Wacom is equipped or not. Wacom has here obviously changed the programmatic control its hardware. The Bamboo pad is more USB-HID-compatible, so the previous routines are no longer effective. The problem is known. For remedy the Wacom modules have the source code adapted something to be recompiled and linked, which is the same way again in an OS update. If someone here have interest, please set an appropriate commentary. Then I would leave a tutorial for it in the comments. The scope of review beyond this, however, completely.
Mac untested.
Summary:
A beautiful and pleasant entry helper, not only on Windows 8 / 8.1. Full points.
