Right now I'm used to rely on the use of smart boards and therefore needed a good alternative to my heavy laptop, since I can not leave them unattended in the room my computer. For the Netbook is as I said in principle suitable. The large hard drive offers plenty of space for the corresponding software, and other required programs. WiFi could be set up without complications (Bluetooth I have not tried because I do not need it).
My job requirements are so therefore quite simple:
* Needs to connect to the SmartBoard leave (incl. Software) ---> Easy!
* Needs some form of word processor installed, which then works fine ---> Not entirely (see below)
* Must be able to be quickly and easily integrated into the WLAN to open websites on the SmartBoard ---> Easy!
* Must be light and easy to transport ---> Definitely!
* Needs to ramp up quickly and be ready for use ---> Not quite, a bit slow!
So there are a few things that are not so ideal. Here again a little more detail:
* First, the netbook is (at least with the preset programs, etc) rather slow. Of course, I know I can not expect a high-speed device, but when even in the word processing a large delay between stop and shown on the screen is noticeable, then this is for me already a big gripe!
After installing a "lighter" virus program, it went a bit better, but still not satisfactory.
Just as I was several times a day must restart the netbook, then this is something annoying.
However, you can also view this point positively, because it in itself is laudable that at all an operating system preinstalled. And (the select the device may be more due to the coloring as a result of the performance), especially for "Hobby-user" is then very convenient to have to not worry about the acquisition and installation of the operating system.
Unfortunately * Second, the keyboard a little strange (probably I have been doing a Monday device caught). The cursor often jumps to a different location, without that I would have touched the touchpad / mouse button and some letters do not respond as well as others (especially during rapid typing is a bit inconvenient when you cut with varying intensity on the keys " "must.). Therefore, the tap makes this netbook is no fun and just at tables or the like you have to be extremely careful that the "dancing cursor" not stirring up the table and the values are suddenly find elsewhere! This really is for me a serious disadvantage, since I have to concentrate unduly on being typed while typing.
Performance and handling of the netbook: 2 1/2 stars if you dismiss the dancing cursor as Monday model error, then 3 stars!
Battery performance (not necessarily important to me, because at the SmartBoard an outlet is not available), however, is surprisingly good! I really would not expect! I have not the time mitgestoppt, but I had actually only after 2 1/2 days (use about 4 times per day for about 30 minutes or more with intermediate re-startup and shutdown) to recharge.
Battery: 5 stars
CONCLUSION:
At work I am not quite satisfied with the netbook, because in daily use the negative aspects (speed and keyboard) quite strongly come into play and affect me at work.
In recreational area, however, I am quite pleased with my little gaudy "BonBon" yet. So if just a small, compact netbook is looking to add a bit to surf at home on the couch or to smaller tasks to be done on the computer that will surely get along well with the Acer Aspire One D270.
Contract: 2 1/2 stars, privately: 4 1/2 stars ---> total rounded up but heard 3 1/2 star and as such a device rather in the leisure sector to 4 stars!
