Sony High-Res Walkman (16GB) incl. 25 Euro voucher for high-res audio files with Bluetooth, NFC, SD memory card slot (Electronics)

Customer Review

At the beginning I want to say at once that I have with high-resolution nothing "on their hats." My entire music collection is either in mp3 / 320 (700 Downloads Amazon) or in sound mind. Equivalent wma / 192 (self-encoded CDs) before.
The other services and perfect for my needs equipment (SD expansion and apt-x Bluetooth) would not let me, despite the hefty price to rest and so he just had in my possession!
An advantage of this device is of course, the man "is ready" in fact and not constantly with new appliances lurches high up (which is probably at the end is even more expensive).

Well, now, I describe the abundant amenities and little things make this Walkman so awesome:

The power management is plentiful mysterious but it is probably as follows: (. I think about 10 minutes) When inactivity he goes into a sleep mode from which he wakes up immediately with "old" screen (this may also be due to 2-sec. pressure on Pwr Off-enforced previously. After long periods of inactivity (about 20 hours) it enters a Accu-saving St-by mode. After that, the database must probably be rebuilt after switching on.

UPDATE: The structure of the database takes from the standby out at about 16 GB of music incl inserted SD card just 10 seconds Can you live with...

The abundant sound circuits:

DSEE HX
Target by upsampling and other "ingredients" of compressed files conjure up a clear sound plus. For effect the files must not be compressed too much (acc. To instructions). So in mp3 / 128 bringing nothing.
This makes the sound quieter when switching, the comparison when changing is quite difficult. The sound, however, when listening very carefully indeed clear and pure. Even minimal brilliant.
All other sound circuits stay here locked or inactive.

Clear Audio +
Target automatically the optimal sound offer (by Sony). The frequencies are processed and added some artificial space. Honestly I can not get anything to abundant listening tests this circuit.
Equalizer and VPT surround stay here locked or inactive. Dynamic Normalizer remains active.

Clear Bass
A truly outstanding bass booster circuit. The bass is not just "blown up" but actually extends downwards. Even more poor bass headphones scale new lows without distorting. Is set in 3 stages.
Includes EQ, VPT and Dynamic Normalizer combined.

Equalizer
Does what it should with a few limitations: There are 5 bands available. Lowest is too high and already in the fundamental range (400 Hz). The highest is 16 kHz. Unfortunately, the control range has only 5 bands with 3 levels (+3 / -3) and prevents a really fine setting. After all, there are 2 memory banks ready for eg unterschidlich KH BT or boxes.
In addition there are 4 pre presets (Heavy, Pop, Jazz, specifically). More or less useful.
Can be combined with Clear Bass, VPT and Dynamic Normalizer.

VPT surround
As the name suggests, a circuit for virtual surround sound. There are studio, live, club, stadium and matrix are available. Who's like, and depending on the recording useful.
A special case is a matrix for me. This produces actually when using a Bluetooth LSs a great space and extends the stereo base significantly.
Can be combined with Clear Bass, EQ and Dynamic Normalizer.

Dynamic Normalizer
Leveled volume differences between music tracks. A wonderful thing, especially with SensMe and shuffle mode.
Can be combined with all but DSEE HX.

And now I come to SensMe.
Here, all need to be analyzed on the player charged songs. The analysis took with me (12GB music) about 25 minutes and must be carried out for the first time. In subsequent or new files only are investigated.
SensMe is hereafter different specifications are available: Energetic, relaxation, mood, carefree, Chillout, Emotional, dance, extreme.
Moreover, there is the "time of day Automatic": This is perfect music for daytime / time collected. Putting the system in this case, of course, a prerequisite.
What can I say except: "real cool thing!" So does Shuffle fun!
UPDATE: What is also very pleasant here, you can leave his normal playing mode including setting (eg, normal playback in the selected range) and temporarily switch to SensMe.. There select a channel, use aperture priority mode or shuffle all tracks and thereafter back to the unchanged normal playback incl. Return last title / album. Very pleasant!

Radio
Legal receiving strong with AutoStore, selectable scanning sensitivity and plenty of presets (I think 30). Unfortunately lacks RDS, but for its own RDS version the corresponding market is probably too small for this Walkman.
What I personally find very unfortunate: A transmission of radio via BT is not possible. When plugged jack cable or headphones as an antenna, this would have been technically feasible.

Playlist or bookmarks
It can natively 5 playlist (called bookmarks) created. be. These can each contain up to 100 songs and also edited (delete individually or move). Adding is very pleasant by 2sec. Press the Play button executable (at current pieces or in search listings).

Transferring data
Very simply by drag and drop. Uploading I've done in "one go" and lasted for about 12 GB only 28 minutes.
Tip: The sample pieces of music and the sample video can be safely deleted. Hereinafter, almost 1/2 GB still free.
I've also previously just the whole file structure saved on the PC.
If you really any place will: secure manual folder on the PC and thereafter the system memory in Walkman format (only with the Walkman own formatter). After this is all "blank cleaned" up to the system files and folders structure.
The player is in the Bedienunsanleitungen felt 100 languages as zip.Dateien. These must be unpacked first on the PC and then read in the browser. The detailed instructions correctly, there is only a link in this manual on the net and is otherwise, officially at least, can not be found.

UPDATE: I used the meantime 32GB SD card (under the cover is even a tiny LED light that blinks when accessing). The system memory and the card has been formatted by me each. (The Specherkarte "must" be formatted with the Walkman!) There is "nothing happens"! File structure and settings remain unchanged get. There are 13.5 GB of system memory available to hereafter. With the SD card, it is 29.7 GB. After that, the music files simply drag and drop in the folder Music. The system memory or the SD card must be selected according to prior transmission previously. The simultaneous transmission over both memory is not possible.
When you later use the Walkman "merges" the system memory to the SD card.

The search and retrieval of specific songs or albums is comfortable, versatile and easy to handle. The folder structure is created on demand at your disposal!

Bluetooth
Fully implemented. Works with my two BT speakers excellent and stable. Even the Nahfeldchip for easy Log is available.
Since both LS feature apt-X is the sound quality excellent. To be able to use apt-x has the Walkman "priority on quality" can be selected.
The sound circuits listed above can be up to DSEE HX all used. Class is the case of several BT partners (boxing / headphones) for each device stored in the player is determined can be stored if a sound processing is to take place or not.

UPDATE: In my BT-LS Panasonic SC-NA30, the player behaves (or speaker) something bitchy. At approximately every 3 paddocks simply no sound comes out of the box. Must disconnect and reconnect. Sometimes he does not connect via aptX but only via SBC. No idea why. NFC works for some unknown reason with the Pana not. Volume can be adjusted only in the pits.
Since I "only" have 2 BT boxes and I am apparently "little disturbed," I bought a short time ago, the Sony SRS X3. What can I say: Perfect harmony with the NWZ A15! Here everything works fine. I just put the player short on the speakers: As if by magic goes without any further action of the player in pause, the BT-LS is turned on, connect the two devices and the player will restart playback and the tunes coming out of the box! There is only one (!) Synchronized volume. These can be changed at the Walkman as well as the loudspeaker. So does Bluetooth fun!
When the SBC re-encoding for BT transmission is indeed a range between 128 kbit to 354 kbit available. Device manufacturers make but to the data rate used is a "great mystery"! These two partners this probably lies in the upper part because the sound although without aptX is simply extremely good!

(Not necessarily belong here but the SRS X3 is the absolute "Hammer": Compared to the SoundLink mini somewhat larger but coequal bass, more balanced mid range and high frequency resolution and significantly better and finer side directivity hardly!)

UPDATE:
Accu
The official figure of 50 hours is completely utopian. This is based on deactivated Accu-Longlife circuit, disabling all sound circuits incl Dynamic Normalizer and use of mp3 / 128 files.. Now I come to the real maturities:
Accu-Longlife "costs" before 10% (ie only 45 hours. Higher data rates in MP3 / WMA also cost energy. Every several sound circuit incl. Dynamic Normalizer also cost power. FLAC files or Bluetooth transmission and radio consume a whole lot energy.
Reele values with Accu-Longlife and screen for 15 seconds and brightness level 1 and MP3 / WMA or 320/192:
Use with headphones and little sound processing: Ca. 32 to 36 hours.
Verwendug with BT transmission: Ca. 18 to 20 hours.
Use as radio: Approximately 20 hours.
Use with FLAC files: Ca. 25 hours (estimated based on Sony data)
The Accu-display is 4 stages plus flashing. Flashing actually starts too early, because here becomes available for many hours capacity.

So and now before less interested in technology fall asleep while reading, I come to the sound:

What can I say: As described above, I "arrived".
The sound quality is simply beyond reproach and actually depends only on the quality of the music data and the quality of the headphones. The additional "handling" should be varied and comprehensive as needed and desired.
By qobuz Voucher I've Coldplay, among others: Ghost Stories downloaded. In this very transparent and clean production remained almost my jaw open to what my 3 2 header or in-earphones are capable.

Now something else nagging:
The extensive network of deep menu structures require a lot of hang around on a duly very taut tactile keys. And what annoys me personally CORRECT: The sleep timer is hidden in the depths of the Setup menu. From the Play screen from there are actually at least. 15 (!) Button clicks. Could probably set via software update on the Play option list. Was probably in previous Walkman there. I would be very grateful!

And now finally I congratulate myself and any other buyers for this nearly perfect music player and the hope of having given or others interested in assistance a!
