I had dug my old indoor antenna with amplifier from the basement, because I feared a moderate reception, but the concern was unfounded: I have tried all the varieties and even get a simple wire dipole antenna, which is not even connected to the shield, stable reception of about 20 km from the 50 kW transmitter. All 12 programs broadcast from there come in without any problems.
Moreover, I am quite impressed by the device. The service I find not cumbersome, as criticized by some, but pretty well thought out. Only a few things I find it poorly resolved:
- In the factory setting, the receiver with RGB signal output starts. This bad habit is also available in some other video equipment. It may be that the modern TV all the control. But who still has an old model, is first time in the dark and should try to "blind" to change the setting on CVBS.
- That you can perform manual channel sorting and especially the change in the Favorites list only with a password-protected setup page, I find excessive and burdensome.
Otherwise, I think as I said the operating concept quite logical and well thought out.
Nevertheless, that was not all my criticisms. What else is so struck me:
- If you select the channel position entering numbers it takes beaten 5 seconds until the recipient actually the station changes. This is actually the only thing that really annoys me on the device. That it can go much faster proves the channel change with arrow keys. I hope that this shortcoming is corrected times with a firmware update.
- When Teletext there are not all the features are actually standard otherwise. It lacks the zoom function and the "mystery key" (display concealed information). At first I thought that also lacks the stop function, but which is solved much cleverer: You can either let subpages automatically change or browse this targeted individually. There is also an undocumented feature: you can temporarily hide the teletext with the TV / Radio button without turning it off. Advantage: Because all pages are cached, you can then control with no waiting time individual pages, without neglecting what the program.
- Recording on a USB flash drive can (billgen speak to slow) in Bad models lead to strong image interference that then, of course, can also be found in the recording. Although this is not directly the fault of the receiver, but it would certainly be possible here to perform a kind of performance test and a stick to refuse if necessary before the user risked unusable recordings. For me, after all, one of the four tested sticks was unsuitable.
Otherwise, I have nothing to complain about the device so far. The remote control is not as cheap as faulted by some reviewers. Clearly it is not a high-tech part, but I've seen much worse. Honestly, what some people expect actually everything from a 35 Euro device?
All in all I can recommend this receiver around. He has so far met all my expectations and the few weaknesses are not really serious. Although I have not tried all the functions, but my overall impression is already very positive.
