The decor was really pretty simple. I was afraid that I would fail because the starter kit came with no detailed instruction manual, only a small booklet with 3 sets. But simply plug the lamp into a standard electrical outlet, the Bridge closes the enclosed LAN cable to the router and into a power outlet and recharges the App in the AppStore. When you start the app, it takes you through the setup and 3 clicks and button press once on the bridge, it is already finished! Registering with My Hue is optional, but wants to control its lights on the road, inevitable.
The app (in my case, Android) is also understood quite quickly and here you can simple the lamps on and off again, Timer programming (this is only in the home network) or also create so-called scenes. Either you just take one of the preset or adjusts the color and intensity of illumination itself and stores it as its own scenes. You can even set the color of a photo!
just the official hue app I have also tried a third-party app that is recommended by Philips. They say IFTTT (stands for "if this than that") and is also available for both operating systems. Here you can create recipes that after the "if this, then that" principle function. This is possible not only with hue and a really nice idea but quite many apps. For example, I created a recipe that my iris lamp flashes when I get a new e-mail in GMail. There is almost unlimited opportunity here trigger (in / by an app) to link with and impact even when the app is only available in English, everything is absolutely simple and easy to understand and the recipes can be created in addition also on the IFTTT website and manage. Not only in the context of Hue a great idea.
I must say that I find the idea and the products really awesome and great, but unfortunately the prices are quite high.
