Smartphone power on the go?

I was looking for an external battery (neudeutsch: Power Bank), and a solar charger that I want to use in combination on a longer hike to the outlets in short supply, however, is sufficient to expect sunshine. I am aware that the performance of the built-in solar cell is probably only just enough in size so precisely, the mobile phone (here: iPhone 6) once to load a day, but that would pass me.

Expectation is so beside 1.) a solid workmanship and good usability 2) sufficient capacity and 3) at least rudimentary function of the solar cells.

1.) The device was delivered quickly, makes a compact and solid impression. With the weight you have to live, because batteries weigh just 50g and the battery with 15000mAh has not yet been invented. The eyelet including carabiner is a nice feature, but thought not quite finished: What exactly is the benefit: that somewhere, the Power Bank on or hang up? Nice going. But If you want to attach to load seriously on baggage, whether it be a backpack or bicycle bag, missing at least one eye on the opposite corner, so they can not dangling. Better (and even more expensive to produce) would have been to every corner of this small 4 eyelets. It could have been tense power bank safe. Therefore, this only 4 stars.

2.) How does it look with the capacity? Here the details of the other reviewers were too vague, since the battery capacity of the various mobile phone and smartphone models but are very different. The capacity of the iPhone 6 is indicated with 1810mAh. Theoretically therefore 8 full load could be possible. Now of course there are power losses during charging, and also between charges discharges the Power Bank. However, I would expect that I can find 80-90% of rated capacity in the loaded device, which corresponds, in my case at least 6 charge cycles (about 75%) over a period of 10-12 days.

This goal has not quite reached the Power Bank. I have once fully charged, discharged and then recharged exclusively charged my iPhone from the Power Bank, and indeed whenever the battery was completely drained. In this way I could even charge your smartphone 5 1/2 before the Power Bank no longer wanted. The loading times were between 2 and 2.5 hours - as others have written.

So here my expectations were not quite met, but one must remember that such a battery obtains its full capacity only after several charge cycles. One would have to test so again repeat. However, this will no longer come because ...

3.) the Power Bank is unfortunately completely failed the sun test. However, I had this first wait suitable weather. The first clear sunny day in the spring, I then used the previously fully discharged Power Bank hung in the sun as much as possible aligned left. For a total of 8 hours of sunshine, the (also fully discharged) Smartphone (This showed that an eye is not so easy with the gentle, if one tinkers in nature not some kind of construction lines.) I have adjusted every few hours and thus loaded. The result was disappointing: I have come to a charge level of just 31%, which should amount to about 600mAh, maybe a little more.

In order for the solar function of the Power Bank is not suitable for me, on the whole, and that's why I let them go back. Amazon is as pleasing accommodating, but could have been here also can refer to an advertised and did not meet product property.

Because of the first two points because I could not really refute that the expected capacity is reached, I forgive scarce 3 stars. But whoever relies on solar energy: Stay away from this device!
