IMAGE QUALITY:
SD channels are fine, HD channels very well.
OPERATIONAL:
about 5 seconds is fine for me
SWITCHING:
about 1-2 seconds, which is sometimes a bit annoying, especially if you want to 'zap' through the channels.
LANGUAGES:
The sound through the receiver sounds a bit dull, but that drops to only in comparison, that is, if I DVB-T (integrated into my Philips LCD TV) on the satellite receiver the SHIFT. Since I had to watch it again if I can change the audio settings so that the sound becomes brighter.
REMOTE CONTROL:
For me the key "Goto" is not responding. But I have the function also never used, so that is negligible.
Otherwise, I think the FB okay.
Channel installation / UPDATE / MENU:
The default settings (tuning) went smoothly. With the Channel list editor from Xoro (Download of the Xoro home page), the transmitter can be relatively easy to sort.
And one should also do, because the manual sorting via receiver joined the much described fault with me on:
The receiver suddenly had no signal. Also a renewed channel search did not yield any change. Only a reset to factory defaults brought the machine back up and running.
About the USB port I have been playing also equal a new firmware update (via Xoro website available), and (on PC assorted) Stations imported.
Me a lot on that update the firmware has not changed on the channel list. I thought that was ever positive. Nevertheless, I would never take the risk of not save the channel list somewhere. If time an error occurs and the transmitter must be re-sorted, that's despite Stations Editor still quite a cost, until you all again so, like you want to have it.
The menu I find very clear. The user interface is intuitive.
PVR (Timeshift):
Works fine so far.
EPG / collecting:
Since there's several shortcomings.
On the one hand I think it's a shame that not more than one transmitter has compared, but only a list of all program broadcasts a station. When you change the view of another transmitter and the transmitter is the same also replaced. This EPG's really only useful if you want to schedule a recording and even then it's a bit awkward to find the right program. Today my overview for example, the program has shown tomorrow evening. God knows why ... Then you have to scroll back with the arrow keys to scroll through the whole list of programs, until you get back on the right day arrived.
Is something absurd in my opinion that I still must select the "Record" option at a recording (by default, since "seeing" is set). If you know it, that's no effort to convert it, but nevertheless it is a bit strange. That could certainly solve different.
Recording on USB stick has worked wonderfully. The unit has been turned on for the set time, it automatically switches to the recording station and start recording. Negative I rate that the device does not switch off during capture and the unit runs in continuous operation when, for example, during the day to record something and come home in the evening.
If you switch during recording there's obviously problems. Partially other channels do not appear or it takes several seconds until an image is displayed.
PLAYING USB:
Playback from USB works just fine.
In the test, the device is, however, crashed when I tried to return to normal program mode again.
Recording and playback of external hard drive I have not yet tested.
OPTICS:
Really high quality looks, the device is not sufficient. Since the device is very small but it does not fall to such an extent.
CONCLUSION:
If you have technical problems (station list) only solved times, works of Xoro HRS 8500 very well.
One way or another Macke has the device already, but when I read in reviews of twice as expensive receivers that even have the partial problems in EPG or PVR, I do think that one has acquired an acceptable device for the money.
As I said, a few flaws, there are who are given the price but quite tolerable.
I would only assess the technology now, I would have given only 3 stars. Due to the low price, I then, however, 4 where, because as I said, more expensive devices can often no longer even.
