The Gardman heavy duty feeding column is really beautiful solidly built - all solid metal, the lid can also be good pull, if you want to top up the wild bird food. The tube, however, is made of Plexiglas (I think) and should also be durable, but what I can not judge, because I only have a week in this column use. Metal feeders are always a bit more difficult, so you need a firmer road or, in my case, a Gardman Schäfer floor (1.80 m high), in which I have hooked the column by its handle. Super hard it is not, because the diameter is standard, not extra large. But I only had softer twigs available. Perches of four bird places stuck - that was important to me. I once had a small metal column from another manufacturer in which the perches were screwed. Gradually, the two disappeared (fell down, not retrievable), because they had parted. So: Who is the price is not afraid a very solid practical Feeder buy with nice look, which I can recommend. I have also seen expensive plastic pillars for a similar price. Because I'd prefer metal.
