Equipment & Process:
The Macbook Pro has been delivered in a white box. If you've ever bought an Apple product know what I mean. Even the packaging has been developed by designers. There is nothing left to chance. Some even go so far already that celebrate unpacking downright. But for me it's just unpack and turn on laptop. One finds in the packaging next to power supply only a small booklet for quick start and a small cloth for the monitor. Once one gets the Macbook Pro from the packaging. You get only once a Aha effect. It's actually so easy and so thin. As an ex Macbook Pro mid 2010 Owner I was pleasantly surprised what has happened in those years. It really is a lot lighter and thinner. It's like having a Macbook Pro 13 "in his hand. There have been few connections changed because of the thin design. There are now 2 Thunderbolt, 2 USB 3.0, HDMI, SD card and headphone port. What I find unfortunate that the LAN Apple sold connection has been dropped. But Apple has made provisions there. One can buy later adapters for many connections to. Whether HDMI or LAN connection, there will be this for all the right cables. The there is unfortunately not free. at inflated the cable prices. That is why I am waiting until third the cables manufacturing. I did that even with the Mini DisplayPort connector and it worked just fine. But also revamped the power supply. The old power supplies are no longer compatible with the new Magsafe 2. It needs an adapter is bought to what I in turn hold only for the part of money-Apple. With the keyboard you can work well. The attacks are silent but nevertheless accurate and the touchpad is just great. All gestures support drawing and are also directly transferred without delay.
The processing is as always top. No sharp edges. The housing made from billet aluminum. Everything was clean and nothing wobbles. For this is one of his money.
Performance & display (Retina):
The new Macbook Pro i7 became the new Ivy Bridge quad-core with 4 cores (8 cores simulated) in it. It is at the moment over the top which is to get to notebook hardware. This one will also soon be seen on the benchmarks. The processor is brand new and was introduced a few months ago. This processor is also installed in the top models from Samsung (Chronos series). The performance can be can be seen in any case and is a desktop computer afterwards nothing. Video editing programs with 1080p are processed without any problems and with small delays. The rendering has improved a lot since the old Macbook Pro. Now the Pro is really professional. Not only are now working is fun. But also play comes this time not too short. Through the Retina Display, it is necessary to install a dedicated graphics card. I think with the integrated Intel HD would have little difficulty in resolving. Of course you can see the graphics card does not compare with the graphics card in the gamer laptops and are also not designed. But in a good central area, the Macbook Pro proposes bravely. New games such as Max Payne 3 and Diablo 3 can be played very well even with high details. In Diablo 3 you get even if the resolution is not on the whole highly threaded yet good 50-60 fps and with Max Payne and Battlefield 3 you can get on high details still 30-40 fps.
The Retina display is just a dream. I do not know whether the more an illusion, however, is felt is the display to wide sharper than the old display. The old display was also very nice. Very colorful and bright. The Retina display top the whole thing. It pushes it up a gear. What might disturb a little bit is the glossy screen. Previously you could choose whether the Glossy or matte screen. But now there is only the glossy version. Many programs are still adapted to the new resolution and look slightly angular or Too Small. But it then comes with time.
Whether RAM or SSD, all parts are now through the new construction of the Macbook Pro soldered. I think that's not good at all. So you have yourself time to make any more opportunities, a RAM upgrade or even to obstruct a larger SSD. With my old went without problems. It was even easy. Well now you are dependent on Apple. Once again, the RAM is broken, you can "throw away" the whole laptop theoretically. That's why I would mitkaufen at this point the Apple Protection Plan. I did the old well. But so far is still not large kaputtgegangen. But at the Retina Macbook I'd be careful. That would be the biggest negative point for the MacBook Pro.
The SSD is really fast. I'm not sure if / s support drawing already in the 2011 version with SATA 6Gb. On my Macbook Pro, there were only 3Gb / s.Es could also be that the new Retina Macbook is even faster because it is built directly into the motherboard. But it's incredibly fast. I would soon be time to read how many IOPS has. But the SSD that Apple has installed definitely better than before. Maybe even the new Samsung Series 830 installed.
The battery lasts about 7 hours as promised. It is a pity that no longer hold as long as the the mid 2010 but that should be enough for a whole day anyway. Apple is usually on fairly accurate battery life. I've seen that 8 hours, promised but after 3 hours, the battery was empty. But it is also always depends on what you're doing. If one is operating normally and the Geforce graphics card is not used then you can come to the 7 hours. Otherwise one has 1 ode 2 hours less when you play it.
The OSX (Lion) is pre-installed and can be used immediately. However, some parts are not yet converted to the retina. Some apps are still quite "pixelated". But with Mountain Lion, it should change. The operating system is running very smoothly. There is a switch from Windows to Mac OSX. But you can be incorporated very well in the shortest possible time. As at the end of both operating systems but not so different are as you think. Both operating systems have advantages and disadvantages and you have to look at which one fits better. The Macbook Pro can install both operating systems. (For Windows you need Parallels or Boot Camp)
Positives:
++ Display
++ SSD
++ Mac OSX
++ Mobility (thin and light)
+ Battery
+ Design
Neutral:
o Glossy Screen
o No Optical Drive
o Price
Negatives:
- Hard soldered Hardware
- Fewer connections
- Extras (Adapter, Apple Protection Plan)
Conclusion:
You would have to think about whether you really want to buy a Macbook Pro. It's a great investment. If you were to convert in Mark would be nearly 5600 mark. You have to let melt times on the tongue. But then this you get a "work of art". It combines design, innovation and exclusivity in one piece of technology. The Macbook Pro really deserves the name Apple and reflects the company philosophy. It is simply the best ever built Macbook Pro the ...
