Sociology of superhero 1

This volume includes episodes 7-12 of the monthly series; it follows Justice Society of America: The Next Age v. 1 (episodes 1-4) and Justice League of America: Lightning Saga v. 2 (Episodes 5 & 6). It is the beginning of a consistent story that continues in Thy Kingdom Come.

The first episode is shared between Nathan Heywood (now Citizen Steele) to find out how to live with a body that has lost touch sensation and gained superhuman strength and between a conversation in which Superman tries desperately to understand why the Starman (Thom Kallor) Legion of Super Heroes remained in the twenty first century. Geoff Johns mentions again the "Legion of 3 Worlds" and his dialogues to create a personality Nathan Heywood few spread.

The second episode is dedicated to Jesse Chambers (Liberty Belle) and her husband, as well as Damage protected them. They are faced with Zoom, Flash enemy. This episode allows to (re) discover the character of Jesse Chambers and why she abandoned the costume of Jesse Quick. Johns continues to develop the theme of kinship and aspirations of parents for their children in a nuanced fashion.

The third episode focuses on Tommy Bronson (Wildcat II), the son of Ted Grant (Wildcat original). The JSA is the central attraction of a festival of fire, the same barracks they had smashed a truck in "Next Age". They must stop the festivities and went to the scene of a fire uncommon. Starman used his powers innovatively and Superman Kingdom Come burst.

The last 3 episodes constitute the true beginning of "Thy kingdom come". This old Superman (the cover) discovers a world where heroes have not abdicated and where they are helped to become better by intergenerational team of JSA. But in the shadows, a person commits a series of summary executions targeted supercriminels claiming divine right. Power Girl is struggling to accept the existence of the Kal-El who reminds him too that of Infinite Crisis. And JSA concludes its new recruitment wave (Judomaster, Mr. America, Thunderbolt, Amazing-Man, Lightning and Lance).

We find in this volume all that makes the uniqueness of the JSA: a team bringing together young and old, stories rooted in the continuity of the DC Universe, a bloated team, a gifted writer to handle so many characters in their giving everyone a little time. The drawings of Dave Eaglesham are in true comic book style, yet very expressive, rather round, including detailed and compelling facial expressions.

Finally, this story is under the supervision of Alex Ross brings his bail to the use of the characters which he helped create. Best of all: it shows a double page and another page.
