The lens feels high-quality and is processed really solid. The zoom ring can be a little difficult to operate initially, but it is always ensured that the lens remains in the focal length setting, which have been set (On the contrary, according to many a Tamron lens as driving the entire tube made when only the camera tilts down and not just holding the zoom ring. There is indeed a locking switch that is beneficial but only if you do not want to use the camera straight).
A small example of the fine workmanship of the lens: Even for a photo session with sleet, high winds and freezing temperatures good for the lens very well, although it is really not meant for such missions. Of course, you have to ensure that the objective is not to get wet! But in my case, the objective is indeed greatly tarnished in the warm car, but if you take it at home right from the camera and "dry" can be, it is fully operational again after 2 hours. The lens has the way to the location at which the tube slides in the housing, a seal in the form of a plastic ring. Thus, it is largely avoided that raindrops reach the lens.
The only downer: In the narrow groove of the zoom ring is unfortunately caught like small dirt particles, which are very difficult to remove. The lens has a metal bayonet. It is also pleasantly light and a well-sized lens hood is included. The filter holder rotates with the focus, which makes the eventual use of polarizing filters.
Now for image quality:
The imaging performance is located in the entire zoom range at a good level, from 200mm takes the edge off, however.
Already from open aperture, it delivers beautiful color, although the contrast suffers slightly. The distortion at the edges keeps very limited and can be almost eliminated by stopping down. For indoor shots, for example at a sports event in a hall, the light intensity is not sufficient. This can be at the unbelievable price but already get over ;-)
The autofocus is fail, in my experience, even at full 300mm.
Conclusion: For the price (on average about 220 euros) an absolute buy recommendation. Great telephoto lens with very good results in fine weather. For hobby and amateur photographers ideal that professionals will surely grab prefer to Zeiss lenses.
