Have the cable once ordered to test a 25-year-old Yamaha keyboard with MIDI IN and MIDI OUT ports in the era of USB and Windows 7, 64 bit. (Under Windows 3.0 or 3.1, and a DIN-plug adapter / game port of my former PC worked the matter not at all.) Now with USB it's sometimes bidirectional: Played on the organ keyboard sounds are visible through special software on the monitor and via the PC sound card audibly or with the mouse on the screen clicked "soft keys" of the software sound from the internal speakers of the organ). Why it does not always work that eg arrive played on the organ sounds on the PC, I can not fathom - I will not do. But it was an interesting finding for me that the "MIDI" to the "age-old organ" Yamaha PSS 580 actually exists and is available without expensive accessories.
