actually I write here at Amazon any reviews because I am by nature a lazy fellow - but the Sonos system is worth some feedback.
I started with the Sonos Play: 5 + Bridge, which I purchased in a bundle in one of the generally known technology markets at a relatively low price (there was the Bridge as quasi free to do so). The Bridge at home in his study at the Fritz! Router connected, the Play: 5 placed in the living room, the Controller software installed on the MAC, both systems connected to each other according to the manual, set up my NAS Media Server incl, and then it could go.. It took a total of no 30 minutes. Then even the Controller software installed on the iPad and iPhone and was finished the complete setup.
The sound of the Play: 5 is absolutely convincing to my ears - for my taste a bit bass-heavy, which can be good but fault by such regulation with the equalizer in the controller software. It's really amazing how good the sound is coming out of this little box. This reminds me of Bose systems designed to bring out even from small speakers impressive sound.
Absolute advantage over conventional speaker systems:
- You actually needed in wireless operation for the Speaker just a normal electrical outlet, that you can place the speakers where it fits one (of course only as long as the radio connection is not interrupted) :)
- I can control the system with iPhone, iPad, or even with my Mac and have so remote access to my entire library
- Compared to my experience with Airplay (Apple TV), the wireless system from Sonos previously will operate trouble-free for me
Well, and then the system must of course be extended. First, with the Play: 3 speakers, I have set up in the bedroom. In direct comparison to the Play: 5, the play has: 3 System not of course so much force and is in my opinion more for smaller rooms. But these are very, very good sonicated. In the bedroom, the play is: 3 right next to my Bose Wave Radio in use and is this in absolutely every way. A big compliment to Sonos.
Now even had to be extended in the living system. The Play: Although 5 alone makes a very good figure. However, I lacked the previously known from my big stereo stereo effect if the speakers are further apart. This is of course a Play: 5 can not be realized alone. So I now have me another Play: 5 ordered system for the living room on Amazon - good price, fast delivery, excellent service - as always at Amazon! Both now existing Play: 5 speakers in the living room I have configured as a stereo pair (which is absolutely simple and easy with the controller software). And there he was again: the known stereo effect ... and all this without any clutter and without my but rather getting on in years and no longer really nice stereo system (this way, I have now banished to the guest rooms).
Among the features: You can see the Sonos system provide different with music. I use as my NAS on which my entire library is stored. Also available is a wide range of Internet radio stations, which are fully integrated into the Sonos Controller software. In addition, many popular music streaming providers can be set up - I've tried with Juke times and am quite amazed at how big this is the offer and how easy here again the integration into the Sonos system is implemented. Moreover, there is the hardware side the opportunity to the system via the line-in input on the Play: 5 yet to be supplied with additional music. The whole thing is completed then be lulled by a configurable with the Controller Software snooze and alarm function, ie you can from his beloved music to sleep or leave even wake - what more could you want! ;)
So far, the system would have fully deserved of me 5 stars, one star deduction I have to give, however: You can tell that Sonos was developed in the US - namely the lack of all Devices an on / off switch, that is, the systems are almost always switched on when they are not separated manually or with a radio-controlled socket from the mains. This is in my opinion not really up to date and can yet also quite go into the money if you have a somewhat more extensive installation. Therefore, there are in total only 4 stars from me - alas!
