What stands out the same: the HX50 needs more light, to focus, to photographing (image noise), at lightning loose shots, ...
My main problem was the exact focus.
The automatics have for my purposes too much of its own.
There are also too many who do not need a man. (Is just promotional)
To save your reading time:
How do I photografiere now?
After laborious searching, I have now roughly the middle of measurement (distance and exposure) enabled and all is well.
(See below)
Mostly with the "P"
Important settings:
Focus: Flexible Spot AF (Autofocus)
Metering Mode: center (brightness)
Clear Image Zoom: Off
Digital Zoom: Off
Focus Expansion: From

I have the impression that a lot of bad images are due to the many adjustment possibilities.
You should already know about something in order to know for what that attitude is good.
The casual Photograf is here simply overwhelmed and experienced has to do with concepts whose function does not open up easily.
Nevertheless: For taking pictures, the camera is actually too bad.
-
Something sneaky, that some expectations can be reached at the same time only by combining several settings.
These settings do not reveal themselves by themselves, and not by the operating instructions!
The search is a bit tedious, especially if you know what you want.
(Who knows what a "Clear Image Zoom" or "Focus extension" is, if you even the "Digital Zoom" is and how it all affects?)
Quote: "When [Clear Image Zoom] is set for the Lockdown to [On], the camera will automatically switch to [Digital Zoom] when the [Clear Image Zoom] range is exceeded." Note: even though digital zoom is turned off! Annoying!
-
"[Clear Image Zoom] allows for still image shooting, the magnification of images with nearly the original image quality."
What does "almost" exactly with the picture quality? It is better at home an image editing program to try and otherwise always photografieren with the highest resolution is.
-
After laborious searching, I have now roughly the middle of measurement (distance and exposure) enabled and all is well.
To force the camera to photografieren exclusively with the middle measurement, multiple settings are required at the same time (see above).
Otherwise it could happen that the camera suddenly switches to the multi-segment metering and at its discretion, the sharpness sets to where it wants. This is annoying especially in close-ups and also pictures of animals, because there the depth of field is often very low.
-
Finally, I can really measure towards my motive, without the camera mocks me.
Light pressure on the shutter release button and then press and hold. With the cut as procedures that the art work is true. Shutter press. Fits !!!
And finally, the pictures are there sharp where I want.
-
So you can for example photografieren by branches through without the camera focuses on the branches, or measuring towards the head of animals without the camera makes a self-imposed "Leichtunscharfmix".
-
What I like:
The rotating wheel with exposure compensation
The image stabilization
The 3 individually storable programs (I have here, for example, HDR Europe)
-
When I read reviews about Sony cameras, I stumble repeatedly over "poor picture" which, I would argue, go to the account of "Special Effects". !!! All image effects off !!!
There are programs for photo editing on the PC.
-
I give 4 points as the previous model with the available quantity of light coped better.
The mega pixels number increased from 18 (HX20V) to 20 (HX50). This brings almost nothing.
The new HX90 / HX90V will again have 18 mega-pixels. Probably a white decision.
Supplement 04.20.2015
Yesterday we were photographing fruit Blossom:
I've never seen so many details of the flowers.
Unfortunately I can not find the function, adjust customer images.
